A nice mix of traction(Class 08, 31, 47, 56, 86, 87, 90, HST, 321, and 323)and variety of liveries during this mostly sunny Spring afternoon visit to Rugby - sort of a second part to the morning visit to Peterborough on the same day(already uploaded)that also shows typical workings for this era. Filmed on 28th April 1994.

@@MrDeltic15 I agree the first time I visited rugby I was very impressed with the station and the shed roof back in 1997 brilliant station

Absolutely love all your Videos on Rugby from the early 90s. Iv worked on the S&T for nearly 7 years now and was there through the re modelling so seen a lot of changes, and even before that I seen the bird cage come down also the old station roof. It's just a shadow of it's former self now :-( And as I model West Coast circa 90s to late 90s pre and post privatisation they are also great inspiration. Thank you.

I have recently bought a OO gauge model of 31 110. I have since found two KZfaq videos in which it makes an appearance. Your video will help me a lot when I feel brave enough to have a go at weathering the model. Thanks

The variety of locos is much missed, although a few things have improved with time. The state of rugby station for one and the livery of the 323s for another. That bright green was always a real eye burner. The RFD 90s looked pretty weather worn at only 4 years old. A few are still wearing triple grey livery in 2015!

another fabulous collection and more wonderful sounds from the 86s and 87s also liked the sound of the 47 on tick over in the background - have never seen an electric loco sandwiched in the middle of a formationi (push/pull) on UK metals I guess this was a stock move - had forgotten about the 90 done out in DB livery clearly a sign of things to come

If i'm not mistaken that one with the loco in between the coaches was a Motorail service. So those coaches on the back were coupled to the train just before leaving.

smilerbull Spot on indeed - a regular weekday working at this time(from Carlisle if I recall)that used Motorail coaches attached to the loco propelling a standard WCML push/pull set.

Thanks Ian. Those AC sounds that are much missed today, although there's still a few 86's around to be captured, and I got 87002 the other day :-) The DB livery 90 was certainly ahead of its time! The sandwiched formation was a regular weekday working in this era - Motorail coaches from Carlisle on the rear of a standard WCML push/pull set.

Does anyone know what the formations were for the 90 + Mk3 DVT sets? It seems like anything between 9 coaches (90+Mk3 DVT) Included, 10 coaches, 11 coaches and 12 coaches. I would assume 9 and 10 coach sets were used in Euston - New Street and 11 and 12 coach sets used in Euston - Manchester, Glasgow or Liverpool

I think 9 and 10 were the norm, and seem to recall these did the Glasgow runs too. Would have to look into some photos on Flickr for more details I guess.

Why was there a loco in the middle at 17:00?

It was a standard WCML "push-pull" set of this era, but had Motorail coaches attached on this particular working.
