NINE Loco Types! Including SCOTRAIL 37409, Minions, 60028 Rescue of FAILED 56301 & More! 12/01/24

A crazy afternoon at Tamworth.. 56301 causing carnage with a failure on the single line approach to Water Orton at the head of 6Z45... 60028 was prompted despatched as 1Z99 to bail the grid out from Leicester LIP.
This delayed 6D44 and 4E49 heavily and caused LSL convoy OZ58 to re-plan at Bescot and double-back via Birmingham New Street.
This meant 0Z58 and 0Z97 headed by newly painted 37409 in Scotrail colours passed within a few mins of each other causing a lot of running around the station for the good many out to see these great loco convoys!
I'm off for a lie down after chasing around this lot..! : )

I saw 37409 at Crewe on the way home from the Battle of Nantwich a week ago; cancelled Derby train at Crewe so LNWR to Tamworth & XC 170 to Derby. Didn't know the XC 170s had first class; I'm used to Turbostars being declassified. Glad I noticed before a ticket check!

37401 37402 73952 73953 Kidderminster Worksop must of gone via Lichfield as only managed to veiw them from Burton-on-Trent this afternoon another 30 seconds I would of had a lense on them thanks for another great share

RTT shows the Kidderminster - Worksop trip going via Water Orton and Tamworth with passing times. There are no times via Walsall and Sutton Park, so it possibly reversed at Bescot and ran via New Street.

Yes - That’s what happened. 401 ran around in Bescot and the consist went via New St instead of Walsall as 56301 was having a senior moment on the Sutton park line 👍

Those are the former Network Rail Class 73’s - 73951 & 73952. They were nicknamed Minions for their all yellow appearance 👍
