Thanks - While most of this was review information for me, there were some really good new points as well, and I appreciate the slow careful manner in which you explain things.

This is my first visit to your channel, and I don't think it will be my last. Good stuff here. Of course, having been into the Trainz franchise since TRS2006, I could be considered a "seasoned veteran". Just the same, I love this video and the way you presented it. I actually did learn something here about the set gradient system. I only ever used that tool to find out the grade that I had already set. Never considered using it to dictate the ruling grade. Being a route builder, this will come in very handy, so thanks for that. :) I am soon to start an entire series of videos about building the route that I have been working on during my live streams in T:ANE. Not necessarily a tutorial series, but could be a fun watch. I am sure having fun putting it together. (10 parts so far and still counting!) Anyways, sorry for the long comment. I guess it is my wordy way of saying thanks for the Trainz tutorials and content. To be sure, I will be back for more. But right now it is time to fire up Trainz and get ta work on some new route ideas. Cheers!

Thanks for your feedback . . .glad it was of some value to you . . . . I have watched several of your videos in recent times . . . and note you have a very wide field of interest on your channel . . . . . . . streaming being one of them . . . . . . I don't think quick enough to try live vocalising while streaming . . . . . . . I too am working on a third part of my building routes series which is all about a new module I am building in TRS2019 . . . . . . . . I did watch the Tane Vs TRS19 video . . . . . and enjoyed it . . . . . . ..

Thanks for the reply. The way I look at it, a person should never consider themselves to be at such a level that there is nothing left to learn. So no matter how "basic" a tutorial or similar presentation may seem to be, there could be something to learn in there...or even a different way to approach something you already know about. Thanks so much for watching some of my videos. Yes, I am guilty of having a very wide variety of interests. Have always been like that. Keeps life interesting at the very least. As for the live streaming, well, I am not one of the best out there, but I think my experience in radio helps some with that aspect. If you happen to stop by during one of my streams, feel free to say hello. Always welcome. I am going to make some time to watch some more of your videos today. I will be returning to live streaming this evening (Oct 6 US Time) and will give your channel a shout out as well. For now, off to watch some more of your content. Thanks again!

I appreciate any publicity . . . thanks . . .I did watch one of your live streams . . the one where you signalled a short break in Septermber . . . . . . . As I am about 12-14 hours ahead of you (Australia) it may be difficult to watch a live stream . . what time of day (your time) did you usually stream ? . . . . . Do you use Discord software at all ?
@NJP76
@NJP76 5 жыл бұрын
No problem. You have some really good content. My streams normally begin around 8:00-8:30PM Central US time. Yes, the time differences do make it difficult. I have friends in New Zealand, who are 18 hours ahead (of course depending on the time of year and the daylight savings time nonsense). So I definitely understand the time thing. I don't do anything with Discord at this time. Right now Skype is my goto communications service...but with some of the changes they have recently made, an alternative may soon be in order.

Hi Colin, Regarding adding ballast - I agree that adding ballast doesn't look right when added to TRS19 Track 1 Procedural, but I don't think it is needed. I have noticed that when this track is first laid, most of the ballast that seems to be part of the track itself is in fact hidden. Just raise the track a bit (by experimenting I found that 0.35m works well) and a nice tight ballast profile comes into view. No need to add ballast unless you want that effect of scattered ballast I suppose. I found this by following your instructions on making a constant gradient section of track and saw that the ballast profile was hidden - worked beautifully BTW - then I added 0.35m to each vertex (a bit of basic addition involved after getting the vertex height first!) to bring the track up to show off that nice ballast profile. Many thanks. Cheers, Stuart

@@colinstrains5885 Hi Colin, saw a crazy crossing in FNQ where a cane train track was crossing the main North South line. Crazy because if a cane train tried to cross the main line against the signal, the points were set to DERAIL the cane train! Fair enough I suppose! Can send you a photo if you would like. Cheers and thanks for your videos - just getting into TRS19 and so far it looks pretty good..... Stuart

I have just watched your video - it looks very complicated to me. I have always liked model railways and would like to build my own layouts. I have plenty of time as I am retired but I am a real new-chum. Do you think this game would be suitable for a grumpy old-fart like me, or would I throw the computer through the window? (I did enjoy the video though). Have a great Chrissie!

can you show how to replace the track tool? i had just started a route in tane and want to switch the track to seasonal, thank you for all your help.
@colinstrains5885
@colinstrains5885 5 жыл бұрын
Ho Brett, I assume you are trying to replace a track that is not seasonal . . . . . .. with one that is . . . . . .. so what you need is the Bulk Replace tool . . . I don't think I have covered that yet . . . . . so if you need an immediate answer I suggest the following link . . . . This is the N3V official tutorial . . . . online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php/How_to_Use_Bulk_Asset_Update/Replace_Tool Hope this helps . . . . . . enjoy

Thanks Colin great Video just about to start my first layout, moving over from Train Sim. Like the photo at the 2min mark, looks like Bundaberg?
@colinstrains5885
@colinstrains5885 3 жыл бұрын
I am not sure where it is, but recall it was related to some sugar railway, so Bundaberg could be correct. Good luck with your route building, my advice would be to start with a simple track plan so you can make mistakes without a major loss.

@@colinstrains5885 That's exactly what I'm doing, I have started a test design, and I'm trying to get used to the UI, controls and understanding the assists. Do I have to download extra content for the PBR ballast match?
@colinstrains5885
@colinstrains5885 3 жыл бұрын
@@jackt5490 That sound about right . . . depending on what track you use the correct PBR should be there. I recommend start with one of the N3V track types as you can always do a bulk change later. The track I use is one of the latest SAP tracks, but it has a couple of extrovert habits that need watching out for so don't recommend it to starters. Once you are conversant with the UI it is the fastest developer tool set of any train simulator. I just wish N3V would spend effort on some of the graphic engine faults before adding things like Multiplayer which is useless for route developers due to the fact that you cannot use your own content in multiplayer as they provide the content to use which is very limited. The graphics engine is well behind most of the competitors.

Question, what post editing program do you use?
@stuartthurstan
@stuartthurstan 2 жыл бұрын
PBR does not mean procedural. Procedural track was introduced in TANE and refers to the procedural generation of junction details such as point blades, frogs and checkrails. In TRS 2019, PBR stands for Physically Based Rendering. You are not alone. I see confusion regarding these terms everywhere.
@colinstrains5885
@colinstrains5885 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Stuart, I am aware of the fact you relayed, but I was probably referring to the ballast that such track includes, this is a PBR based image.
