WRRS Motors Bells Still Working ...Kind of | Lake Street Drawbridge Raising

No idea how it happened but the bells didn't start ringing until the bridge was fully raised.
Seems this bridge is one of the more difficult ones to maintain but what's even more mysterious is that you can hear the bells on the other side ringing fine.
Also got to see a random plumbing van disregard the traffic signals and scare away a pedestrian.
Lake Street Draw has some of the last working WRRS motor bells on the Chicago river and I'm not sure long before Chicago upgrades them since other bells have been replaced as a result.

Nice catch, and I’m happy to know that the bells are working again. if they do end up rehabbing this bridge, hopefully they will also refurbish the signals and make them look new again but they’re still the old signals and the gates, it’s much cheaper by the way if they did that instead of buying brand new signals.

Well they need to get a new set of lights for that right signal so I suspect they get a new one for the left. Not sure if they'll solider on with the motor bells or get some WCH bells instead.

Half of the systems on these drawbridges are broken or malfunctioning at this point. I'm just wondering if they're doing it on purpose just to get replacements sooner, or considering Chicago governance they're just so strapped for money they don't have much of a solution for maintaining these things.

I am amazed at how all of this equipment has stood the test of time. They should keep it or refurbish it as memorabilia or something.

Train horn at 3:11. Any clue what crossing the train was blowing its horn for that's nearby this bridge?

I mean this is right by Ogilvie TC and Canal Street. It sounded like an F59 so it could be either UP or Milwaukee/NCS lines honestly. For any reasons like maintenance, trespasser, horn orders, etc

Why didn't the resistance gantry come down after the barriers?

@@RaisedLetter normally the vertical resistance gate (it's the one with the cables running across and the red and white reflective tape in short vertical sections along it, along with the flashing red lamps) goes down just before the bridge opens... I'm just wondering why it didn't in that case.

@@RaisedLetter if you look right above the two horizontal traffic signals, you'll see it. It's definitely there although it appears to be in a state of disrepair.
