One of the first times I left the South I remember the group of people I was with laughing at me because I said hello to a passing stranger on the street. Kind of sad if you think about it.

Trampled was formed when a members amps and electric equipment was stolen. Rumor has it they only had acoustic stuff left. Their concerts are probably the closest you can get to metal in the acoustic and bluegrass world. Hard, fast, loud, and amazing. Such a treat and I’m glad you enjoy it.

Why change "na" to "la" in the chorus? "Na" conveys lack of acceptance. "La" is just another syllable that keeps the meter. Anyway it's an old post, but I hope someone understands.

I both love and sort of hate this song. Dixie drove itself down by armed rebellion, otherwise known as treason. Defense of a disgusting institution - slavery - is what drove Dixie down. They say it was about states rights, but they wanted to take away the rights of other states to be free of slavery. Look up the fugitive slave act. Read up about bleeding Kansas. The confederate states are, even to this day, a major force for reactionary politics and hostility to human flourishing. Look at opposition to “Obamacare”. Dixie, heal thyself!

I know I’m 2 years late to your comment but I think it’s a very delicate and well done song painting a picture of the pain in defeat felt by white southerners for me the beauty doesn’t come from any politics referenced but from the expression of a universal feeling that anyone in any time period has the potential to feel too. I’m not a confederate apologist, quite the opposite really. What’s so masterful about these lyrics is the humanization of a rebel southerner without condoning the politics. You can hate what they were fighting for and still empathize with their sorrow on a human level. Not saying you gotta like it agree either that’s up to you Fuck I’m high right now

its good, very good.just I don't like lead vocal straining his voice like the band's lead singer does.

I am from West-by God- Virginia, bluegrass (live) on the front porch country. I don't understand how these guys even get gigs. They are awful! Sloppy instrumentals, and off key, nasal hollering. Don't imagine that country and bluegrass music is careless or crude. It should be precise, accurate, harmonious, and fluid. These guys are like a bunch of drunken cats on a fence.
@brycesuderow35762 жыл бұрын
Tell the performers that they got some of the words wrong. They copied that stupid Joan Baez version and used these words, “till so much cavalry came and tore up the tracks again. The real words are, “till Stoneman’s cavalry came and tore up the tracks again. The Yankee general GeorgevStoneman did indeed tear up the tracks and captured several southern cities as well on his raid.
