How and why is it a burdening to tell someone you are Trans? I thought you was living in your truth Raquel Willis 🤔 YOU SHOULD TELL A INDIVIDUAL YOU ARE TRANS AT THE MOMENT YOU MEET THEM. HOW ARE YOU DEMANDING ANYTHING WHEN YOU ARE HIDING YOUR TRUE SELF. STAND ON IT

I love this conversation!! I now feel like these conversations surrounding trans women should be had amongst intellectuals capable of handling the sensitivity topics like these require. Otherwise it tends to turn into a circus act further perpetuating stereotypes and ignorance.. Thanks Raquel and Toure!!

If I was those trans person , I wouldn’t waste anyone’s time & or energy with them taking me out on a date before I informed them of what I was born as. You can’t compare this to someone not informing you that they have children. It’s totally different. Sounds like this trans person is trying to low-key trick men into liking her

It is 1000% important for a Trans person to inform a man they are Trans before going on a date. Biologically a trans person can never offer certain things that a biological woman can offer. A man should be provided the choice up front to determine the route they want to take. They should not be tricked by a trans person. (Yes many women have fertility issues however a Man could NEVER birth a child. So a trans person could never be considered a WOMAN. It’s okay to think and feel you’re a woman, but biologically you are not a woman. It’s SELFISH to not share your transition upfront with someone who may seek an imitate relationship with you. A man does not have a womb so you can not be a woman. It’s your business who you are attracted to but a person should not have to get in the bed with you before knowing you are not a biological woman.

the conversation about disclosure is very thought provoking. I assumed safety was the focus, but the idea of anyone discussing any private information at the initial meeting... spot on. people don't do that and it stands to reason that our collective (some, not all) expectation around that is skewed. Saying surgery isn't happening to young people is an unfair statement. And placing the sports issues just on Republicans or political issue is also unfair. The WPATH standard of care supports medical affirmation of kids, including mastectomies as early as 16. There are private providers doing it. And these surgeries don't require as many prerequisites such as multiple letters of medical necessity. Letters have been reduced to 1. Her generation of trans people had a much more intricate standards of care. And there are Democrats and people with no political affiliations that have valid concerns about sports issues. It would be nice to see her acknowledge that these issues aren't myths.

figuring out when to disclose something like that is really hard. I have herpes (which ~10% of people do) and I usually tell people on the first date. my family and therapist tell me I should wait longer so people can "see who I really am" first but I have found that people feel misled and will get angry if I do that. but it's also really awkward telling them too early because it seems presumptuous and like it comes out of nowhere. one time I was on a date and I felt like it was too soon to tell him during dinner but then he tried to have sex with me in his car and I told him and he was upset that I wasted his time.

@rena9722 3 ай бұрын
I said I am not cosigning. It is a slippery slope. You want me to see the value this person's "womanhood"? Nah I can't, I don't know about you, but my womanhood looks different. It involves everything that they biologically AREN'T, don't have or can't do. Logically, they'll never arrive at the destination...it's comparing apples to bananas (there is NO comparison). All that being said, black female voices are being co-opted by black males voices, in trans. When's the last time you heard or seen ANY of these people advocating for LEGITIMATE female issues? Exactly, you DON'T.

@rena9722 3 ай бұрын
@classynoginilr7891 Logic will tell you that humans, given exposure, stimuli, etc. will have varied lived experiences. However our "womanhood" is a culmination of experiences that BIOLOGICAL females have over the course of their lifetime. MY "womanhood" included(s) being a tomboy, menstruating, live birth, breastfeeding my children, being a mother/daughter/sister/aunt, an educator, a veteran, and a troll of the interwebs in my spare time. Trans people identifying as women can't make such claims about SEVERAL things listed above. In addition, MY womanhood DOES NOT include: denying what is physically ON/IN MY BODY or denying that there have been traumatic events that could have affected how I perceived myself for a time or requiring others to bend so that I can be accepted and comfortable with MY choices or...Or...OR!!! So no, I'm gonna say "our womanhood" IS NOT the same ma'am. 🤷🏾‍♀️

I do appreciate this brother showing a trans persons point of view but honestly for me This is really scary to watch because it's so many trans people. I'm sure walking around with the same point of view of they feel like they shouldn't have to tell someone up front and it's a lot of heterosexual men out here who are coming in contact with these people and develop a rapport and then later find out which that probably could cause psychological issues. I feel like it would be more safe on all parties involved for that to be the base of the first conversation to prevent potential problems . But at the end of the day I just don't understand our black race right now. we seem to be at the fore front for all of these type of issues and leading the charge .and I must say I do not like when black people of the lgbtq+community compare their struggle or experience to the black struggle I totally disagree cause it's not the same

I think YOU need to go back & watch the full interview! She said she wouldn’t tell them she was Trans for the first 2 dates or even BEFORE kissing straight men! That’s is the very definition of tricking someone, especially if that person is under the impression that she’s born a woman. The man didn’t have a choice in the matter until “She” felt comfortable telling the man!
@davefoss6201
@davefoss6201 2 ай бұрын
A straight man is straight because he likes women and is specifically ONLY interested in pursing someone with an innate vagina. Therefore, not telling a man you’re trans is tricking them. Also, biological women are not cis women they are simply women. Biological women don’t refer to themselves as cis they know and understand they are female, and have the ability to give birth, but transgender women need to explain they’re trans to men.

I am confused by the editing choices with the dramatic music in the background and the beginning clip. It just feels like its throwing gasoline to flames, instead of coming from a good place. I found this podcast originally when Ali Siddiq was interviewed, and it made me feel that the intension of podcast was to have a feel good conversation with somebody even if the topic was difficult (aka Ali's time in prison). Maybe i'll give this a shot later at 2x speed and no sound. Even if the podcast crew doesnt agree on the topic (comparing this intervoew with Ali's), I am still expecting them to do a fair edit...
