This isn't really that great because it concedes to the nonsense point of "trans people don't accept themselves for who they are", which should be shut down first for bizarrely assuming that physicality is all that makes people who they are. That so clearly doesn't make any sense that it doesn't need any analogy.

grmpf that’s also very true. We do accept ourselves as who we are, inside, but not our bodies and the ways society sees us. Wanting to change and accepting yourself in that change doesn’t mean you “don’t accept yourself the way you are”.

I just realised that my phrasing was very unclear, I meant the "we/us" in "that makes us who we are" to be generic as in "us humans", but that's not clear at all in the actual phrasing, so it can also be read as me being trans as well, which isn't the case. Sorry about that. (This isn't a direct response to anyone, just a clarification.)

Here’s a little bit of a wholesome story: In my online school it always says my birth name as my username, everyone on the class knows to call me my preferred name, but nobody knew why, until today. Somebody asked my why I went by a different name and tried to explain without outing myself to the class. I basically told them I didn’t like my name and that’s about it. Well someone immediately asked “Are you trans? We won’t judge” and just seeing that de me cave and tell them I was and the whole goddamn class accepted me. They asked me how it worked and what it was like and said sorry if they used the wrong name, and they tried really hard not to offend me.

More like when the child decides for themselves, my parents actually did this with my youngest brother when he was a baby and he was born a boy and chose to be a boy when he was about three. They did that because my second youngest little brother, when he turned four years old he always wanted to dress like a girl and play with dolls and have tea parties and my dad hated him dressing like a girl and would get really angry and he wasn't allowed to paint his nails or wear make up. My mom never really thought much of it because she figured he just liked that stuff because he had a sister (me) but one day when he was about five or six she caught him in the bathroom with scissors and he was trying to cut his penis off! She took the scissors away and she asked him why he was trying to do that and he started crying and told her that it was because he hated being a boy and he thought that if he cut it off he could be a girl withought my dad getting angry. So my mom left my dad awhile after that but then me and my three siblings were put into fostercare because my mom's an alcoholic so my little brother is still with a family that desriminates against him and he's 12 now and has to live with a Christian family that makes him go to Sunday school and discriminates against him and tells him he won't go to heaven if he doesn't act like a boy and they just think he's gay

Actually in my country (Czechia) until like 3 or 4 generations ago kids until 6 (or sometimes more) were raised gender neutral... All the kids were wearing skirts and then later you would just stay in them or transition to trousers. End of story. But somehow that got lost and now when they make like filmed fairy tales which take place in the "olden times", of course there's this modern cis-filter where everyone at every age is strictly girl or boy, which obviously wasn't the case.

I actually got through to someone with the "you are the gender of the body you're in, your body is like that because that's who you are" by bringing up that never, in all of cinema, have we not accepted that someone in the wrong body is still the gender they always were. Mind swap between genders, the people that know still use the right pronouns, even if having the wrong genitals is directly mentioned. Any possession where the person/entity is or is coded as the opposite gender is still called by the correct name & pronouns. Any time reincarnation is a thing we call the past life by their preferred pronouns no matter what the current body is like. Even gender coding in and of itself proves the point. Granted none of that is possible, it shows that we all agree & always have that your gender isn't completely your biologic function. That it's part of the person themselves regardless. If you can slap a bow & wire eyelashes on a robot & call it "she" or a Roman nose & slick back hair on one & call it "he" you can respect a trans person's gender not matching up with their bodies.

She is speaking on some controversial topics, and that's why so many people call her transphobic, but those that do, usually don't even bother to actually hear her out. Please learn to differentiate between people who might have slightly different opinions and actual transphobes, the difference is huge.
