Transkaroo? Noways. Since the train was renamed Shozoloza, the Transkaroo stopped existed. And it never went through Vereeniging. If so it had to be rerouted for some reason. .

Unfortunately it was a three part series from Johannesburg to Potchestroom.
What is amazing to me, and I did not know, is that TransKaroo goes south first and then west to Potch.

Hello Sir. Thank you a million for those videos. Very interesting and informative. Especially the different locations. Now. If i am correct, and, please, correct me if I am wrong, and if this was trip was on the 20/12/2023, this train didn't make it Cape Town. Well, it did,, i think, on the 23rd, or did it U turn back to Jhb ? I know the passengers were put onto busses from Beaufort West to Cape Town. And, in all that, then they got stuck at the accident site on the N1. Heard a report that the bus only got to Cape Town at 19.45 that evening.

Thank you for the info, I only went up to Potchestroom, since I was experiment the Trans Karoo for the first time in my life. There were some issues both on the route and on the locomotives.

But then also, if those engines were the same ones that you left Jhb with, then that doesn't suprise me on the technical problems you had. You stood the whole day in De Aar, with engine failure, and no replacement. Spoornet should have replaced that engine enroute in Gauteng already.

This was strange indeed, the first issue arise just before Raathsvlei. They did notice either the lead loco had a problem. We were staged there for about an hour.

What a fuss! Why did the #ANC even bother? No promotion or passengers, running a whole train for what?
