Nice! I'm counting the hours for this to come out. Those russian trains must have the worst brakes ever. It seems like a slight headwind would stop the train sooner than those brakes ^^

Nothing to do with Russian trains or brakes. The problem is gamers who don't know how to drive trains & keep using the wrong brake system 🤬

@markpusko2480 Well the brakes in the release version seem to be much more effective than in the demo. But still, compared to the KE brakes, they still seem a little weak given the short and light trains I've seen so far in game.

10:35 you're not really slowing down because you are using the wrong brake...... The locomotive brake is just for the locomotive. It's almost useless stopping when you are hauling wagons. You need to be using the main train brake.

@@InsideAgameR need to make a minimum air reduction in the brake pipe (using the main brake handle) of 50kpa or 7psi. Also allow around 2000m to stop. This varies with train length, weight & terrain gradient

40:20 The brakes didn't work, because one of the many bugs in this game is that the brakes fail when the compressor is off.

Are you sure about that? When the compressor is off, the brakes either wont release or automatically apply because of a reduction of air pressure in the brake system. Using the locomotive brake handle is not the proper way to stop a train loaded with wagons.

@@markpusko2480 The locomotive brake uses air from the main air reservoir for braking. As long as this is full, the locomotive brake can work. The train brake must be released with air from the main reservoir and the auxiliary air reservoirs must be filled. When the braking process is initiated, the pressure in the main air line is lowered, the control valves move to the brake position and allow air to flow from the auxiliary air reservoir into the brake cylinders until their pressure has dropped to that of the main air line. The compressor is only required if the main air line is to be refilled after braking (and thus release the brake).

@@tachyonator7986 I'm an ex freight train driver I know all about this. If the compressor fails, or is off it will not maintain pressure in the brake pipe, regardless of the aux reservoir, triple valve or other equipment. If the train is stationary the brakes can bleed off & release after a long period of time. But if the train is operating, the compressor is not maintaining that air pressure in the pipe (about 250kpa) the brakes will apply & remain applied.

@@markpusko2480 Yes, of course the brakes will apply when the air in the main air line drops. But it doesn't matter whether the compressor is running or not. And that is the problem in the game: The brakes do not apply when the compressor is off, even though the brakes have been filled and released beforehand (with the compressor running).
