First day 400Km and alot of workout... I took off for one weeks adventure ride to the north, no real plan than go as far i reach on a week and also visit my roots. I started with the western part of the Trans Sweden Trail (TST Blå). I had some more adventures than I hoped for late this first day.

What a wonderful first day. Are there any dud camping spots in Sweden? Every one looks superb and such good facilities in general. Loved that slimy trail as it made for excellent footage, especially the fallen bike. Everyone can relate to that situation. I bet you slept well that night. That was 500 EXCF terrain for my money. Here in Covid locked down Sydney, this is the perfect antidote.

Haha, Happy to make some of you getting more or less abstinence 😂👌. We have alot of nice campings with all kind of services and facilities. But in this outdoor friendly country there are tons of windshields for free in the forests, most often lakeside. Wikdcamping is alowed if you follow the rules of leavibg no trace and that you move along each day. The TST is mostly gravelroads and doubble tracks. Some single tracks to connect the trails. Those makes it more adventurous, sometimes more tvan needed ehen riding solo packed up. I know a team of 4 that was behind me detoured from the trail at some of these toucher parts for big adv bikes. Had hoped thatvthey vould come on the trail. Normally i esily lift the bike, but with a side stand bored into the ground it was more than I had bare musceles for, butvi engineered it up 💪🤠

@@Braapncamp Next time you come to Germany, Mattias, you can stay at our place in Nürnberg. Bier, Bratwurst und lots of easy gravel roads (legal in Bavaria, unlike single trails). And nice asphalt twisties as well. The North of Bavaria (Frankonia) is underrated by motorbikers, so the roads/tracks are quite empty. But now back to your Trans Sweden video, part 2 is waiting. Cheers, Günter

Wish You a nice trip then! TET and TST are similar in type of gravelroads/trails. It is the directions that differs and that TST has more alternatives and are alot more covering. As You say, You need mebership on the TuR FB and as well have to comply to a procedure to get access to the google drive with the gpx files. Easy and no cost if you read up on whats expected. Another alternative is the stegra.io web app (paid) that makes similar routes for you very easy in any direction You want. Happy Trails Peter!

But if you mean that i only cut out that part for an separate video and tell more about it in words what i actually did, thats good idea. What you don't see in the video is that i actually had to make two 3m lever arms and two shorter support and alter the lifts between them. The side stand totally blocked the possibility to lift it by my own. As soon as the levering with powerlifts get the stand loose from the roots i was able to lift it by my self. Hope this makes sense.

Hi Piyush, cool to reach India and i'm sure i would love to adventure ride in India. I started to ride at approx when i was 12 years old. Ofroad and MX bikes. Then when i studied and had a young family i did not ride for years. When I was 30 years old i picked up the riding again and it was no doubt that an adv bike was the way to go. Since then i have had some different adventure motorcycles. My bike should weight 230-235 Kg's fully loaded approximately i this case. I did not pack it with my most light weight packing. I normally easily pick it up fully packed. This time the sidestsnd had get stuck in the ground. I'm from Sweden. Happy trails!

Matthias. At 15.00minutes, the bike is fallen and despite your obvious strength, too heavy to pick up. I definitely could not have picked it up, if you couldn’t as your are clearly very strong. I was therefore thinking - would a long strap and a ratchet be a good thing to take on a solo trail trip? Could attach to a tree and ratchet it up? Just thinking….what do you think? Thanks
@Braapncamp
@Braapncamp 2 жыл бұрын
You are right, i easily pick up the bike under normal circumstances. Even with travel packing. But this time i had parked it on the sidestand (stupid place to do so without a sidestand plate). When I had a closer look at the trail ahead it fall behind me and the sidestand got stuck in roots underground. I worked with this in 2 hours and was exhausted. Very angry with myself being stupid to park like this. I had a saw and made myself two levers of 3m and 2m. It was still extremely tough to get it up. You are right again, 2 straps with ratchet is great to have. I actually use to have that. But not this time... even better could be a descent line/paracord with a couple of roll blocks. I think these could be bought as kit and packs small in volume. The aftermath was that I should have just throttled on... but if it had been worse I could have got stuck totally as well. Part like this could be avoided on the TST or TET when yiu see them and are not confident with the situation. Just turn around and detour to get on the trail further ahead. Thanks for Your valid question!

Just seen this brilliant reply. Much appreciated. I went to Sweden this year and did some southern TET so it was quite easy trails. I had Both - cord and a pulley, plus 2x 5m straps, just in case I got stuck. My bike is a 1290 S, so very hard to pick up. I’ve also made my own lifting pole using a medical crutch, bolted pulley on top, so could ratchet. Didn’t need any of it but I definitely would have if I’d dropped the bike. I can now see how yours was stuck - cos I knew you were strong enough to just lift. Thanks again for your reply.

I’m coming to Sweden again this year and if I come across tough going, I will follow your advice and turn back, and go around. Which parts of the southern or central TET are the best sections in your opinion, say I wanted to do about 300km? Which would be ALL you’d get here in the whole of the UK😂
@Braapncamp
@Braapncamp Жыл бұрын
The part around Hökensås is nice on TET there are sections or parts of sections thats nice far north from that as well. As well south. The TST has more of the fun stuff. I think the most important is to research a bit to take some detour and se the culture in different ways. If you stick to either of the trails completely there are alot of forest to see 👀😂. But I like that as well, into the woods and enjoy the solitude. You will find lakes with nice spots along the trail. Wildcamp is great but some stops at camping or B&B för a shower or just beeing social is great as well.

Large vent openings under arms. Worked great on this trip. Best parts of the jacket is tbat i felt more free with the low weight and that it is comfy around the neck. Under it I have a separate protection shirt.
