It is true that in some instances it is necessary to spend to get the player however that simply is not always the case. For example the same window in which we paid £650k for Henrik Larsson the huns paid £5m for Marco Negri. When he flopped they spent £12m on Tore Andre Flo. So is Schmeichel the right player? He is a substantial upgrade on Hart meanwhile filing the leadership/experience void left by Hart's retirement. Rodgers knows Schmeichel and Schmeichel knows how Rodgers works - that means he is a much needed, guaranteed leader in and around the dressing room from day 1. What price do you put on that? The problem regards his age and longevity is addressed by signing Sinisalo who has the profile to develop into our no1. All for 1m and wages which fit comfortably into our overly strict wage structure. It's perfect business. Now - we need a left back and a left winger.
