Israel’s war on Gaza has displaced nearly two million Palestinians since October 2023. A majority of them are sheltering in the southernmost city of Rafah.
Now, with the threat of an Israeli ground offensive on the area and calls by some Israeli politicians to permanently expel Palestinians from the Strip, fears are growing of yet another forced population transfer.
An Israeli minister has even called the current war the “Gaza Nakba”, referring to the devastating forced displacement of Palestinians in 1948-1949.
Meanwhile, Palestinians in the occupied West Bank say the Israeli army and illegal settlers are waging a less visible but equally dangerous shadow war there. People and Power delves into the history of Palestinian displacement and asks whether population transfer is Israel’s ultimate goal.

Israel State was never based on religion. When you read the full story, Zionism didn't sell as well, and then Herzl realised he needed a religious drawcard, and with that appraoch, Balfour gave them a portion of Palestine. Right from the start, they sent more people there than what they agreed to, they took as much land as they could in 1948- hence the name occupied Jerusalem, occupied West Bank- they occupied Palestinian land , they stole it, after killing 15 000 people and forcing 750 000 Palestinians into refugee camps. Israeli spits on Orthodox Jews, they stop Christians from going to church, whereas before they got there, Jews, Muslims and Christians lived in the same area and were peaceful and lots became friends

Attacks on civilian targets, constantly changing goals from the IDF, use of starvation as a tactic of war, systematic upheaval of civilian population pushing them into an area like cattle and then threatening to bomb that same area. All religious ideologies aside, Israel handles war like a toddler with a keyboard and its disgusting to the American people that any ally of America would handle a war in such an unprofessional barbaric and tactless manner and that is why Israel is losing support in the US and when public opinion changes so does political opinion. Israel is going to isolate itself from its number one ally and then it will be at the mercy of the countries around it.

I agree. I've come to realize traumatized people often project and traumatize others and not their original perpetrators but someone new and unrelated to their original ordeal. The definition of terrorism is the deliberate targeting of innocent civilians. Ham+s deliberate targeting & hunting down of Israeli civilians to slaughter was terrorism. The US is slow in change, it needs time to change its public opinion before it changes its political opinion, that happens around election time. Can already see a shift in how the current president addresses the topic of Israel in order to not distant potential votes who are opposed to Israel's behavior in Gaza.
