In this video, I FINALLY add a winch to my Traxxas TRX-4 Defender! As my first ever crawler, it's long overdue! I still use the stock transmitter and there are no available channels to program, so this setup is perfect because it is all external and requires no transmitter programming. RC4WD's latest wireless remote is so cool - modeled after a real winch controller!

So I put the same winch on my gen7 pro,but i wanted to use my transmitter to operate it instead of the key fob.i used an old brushed esc to power the winch,and I just use the signal wire on the reciever,put it on an extra channel, and it works great! Literally will lift the entire truck off the ground.also added a snatch block on it.just have to make sure you use metal bumpers and bumper mounts.

I super glued mine to the plastic bumper. Then got a metal one it mounted to. I like the traxxas winch that I have on my tf2. The freespool function is really nice for getting cable out quick without unwinding slowly

On my redcat gen8 I run mine off the power grid on the receiver. It runs perfectly fine off 6v and will pick that heavy truck up. I also used a piece of double stick servo tape to mount the controller to the transmitter

I finally got a TRX4 Sport last Christmas. I’ve only ran it a few times as I went down a RC rabbit hole involving a few Axial Yeti XL, or 2. Or 3. That’s a nice looking scale winch, I’ve looked at them for a few years now. Looks real easy.

I have the older version of the same winch on my Redcat Gen8 Axe. Works great, but the mounting bracket needs a redesign to work with the screws provided on most trucks I've seen. RC4WD could offer different plates for different trucks, to make the mounting easier. Great video as always, thanks !

Im fairly new to the hobby, lets say I have RC cars for about 1.5 year now. I usually drive my 7th scale Arrma desert truck to have great fun extremely bashing and ripping with it, and I have a 10th scale tamiya xv-01 with rally body that I use on the streets and be a bit more careful with :) I have to say this video inspired me to maybe try and get into crawlers aswell some day. The winch and all the scale decorative parts are so cool. and that suspension wow I love how people designed this to cross almost every terrain :)

Hello from France 🇲🇫 I love the scale rc4wd winch transmitter! Best to use on one hand Rx and one hand winch You could use it from radio with traxxas tqi pro scale light system but I prefer 100x separate controller. Have fun and thank you for your nice vids

Hey thanks for sharing this video. I am new to the rc world, well new to the Crawler. I have the jato 3.3 nitro for about 1.5 years and another nitro rc that I had for almost 20 years. I ditched the traxxas electronics in my trx4 and went with radiolink rc8x radio and castle creations brushless sencored motor and mamba x esc.

On my 2021 bronco TRX4 it came with the Traxxas pro scale winch when I bought it from their own store, I just ziptied the included controller to the top of my radio lol. It’s hard to steer and drive and winch but really just need to press throttle and winch at the same time anyway. It works great but doesn’t look all that great in terms of scale. That warn scale winch looks amazing!

Nice winch, it completes the Defender! The double sided tape is strong, but for additional strength, can you use the original fairlead on the winch? If you file of the plastic fairlead on the bumper, not the upright bracket it is sitting on (!), will the bracket be wide enough so the two holes for the screws on the winch can be drilled though it? Then the winch will be bolted to the bracket too. If needed you can use washers as spacers. And it will look good with the chrome fairlead on the front! Cheers.

Very nice CNC land anchor, had to order one! 👍 I personally use a servo winch with a waterproof 22kg servo and a 80lbs braided fishing line. Sometimes I am afraid to break the car in half. 😉

Hi Hayley 👋🏻 What lighting kit are you using on your Defender? I have the Traxxas kit but my headlights have loads of leds in which are now starting to fail. I much prefer yours. (And it goes without saying, another great video btw 👏🏻)

Wow boob - classic 😆 . Sweet setup although I think I would've found a way to mount the winch with screws vs double-sided tape. I would think after getting wet a few times, the reliability of the tape would be in question. And it looked like the fairlead "frame" on the truck was screwed on so maybe you could remove it and put the fairlead from the winch itself in its place? Just a couple of thoughts...

Yup got a couple of winches. 1st one, I put on my redcat gen 7 pro. It was cheap. The switch I put on top by the spare. The good one I put on my trx 4 tactical. The other one I'm debating where to put it. Decision Decision. Oh well. Bye Double click on the like button.
