When you started talking about self destruction, I related immediately. Caring about everyone but yourself broke me recently man, and I looked back and realized that I've been putting everyone else's feelings before my own to the point I didn't even know how to feel. It made me realized I needed to learn how to care for myself again. I've been in a way better position in my life after I started worrying about myself at the end of the day. Barbers are like the big brothers of the Black Community, if you go to your local barbershop and you listen to the barbers, you learn so much. It's really one of those places where young black men can go to seek advice in the absence of a prominent father figure like myself. Obviously I'm not saying all Black people don't have a father figure or non-black owned barbershops don't have the same connection with their clients, but from my experience as a black youth in an urban area, the people who cut my hair are some of the smartest people I know.
