At 2:6 you can clearly see the brand (Bburago) on the underside of the interior. Car is still available new, and not worth more than $20-$30.

My thoughts exactly ! I have a collection of these Burago toys in their original boxes I have no use for. Anybody willing to pay 2000 can have them all !!!! (about 20 cars). But they are Burago and cheap ..... Try Schuco cars from the early 50's 60's - masterpieces all in metral and with German precision. Expensive when new even back then. Beautiful replicas of 60's F1 cars with suspension steering detailed engines etc. Great for a lucky young kid.

These models are often sold in kit form so disassembly is simple. The clever bit is aging it in the first place, no, scratch that, the clever bit is making money out of a phoney restoration of a ‘valuable’ model.
@trendtrader88
@trendtrader88 10 сағат бұрын
Yes, I was thinking of precisely the same question - how much did it cost to restore this car and how much does it cost to simply buy a new one ? If a new one is still available, then of course it makes sense to simply buy a new one. But if this car is no longer in production, then all the effort to restore it will be worthwhile if this is a much sought after collector's dream piece where enthusiasts are willing to pay good money for it. Otherwise, that comment regarding making $2000 from KZfaq makes an awful lot of sense. If this video is commendable, you should watch another video where a bunch of Vietnamese guys used an engine from an old Toyota to build a brand new drive-able Ferrari look-alike. Search for "Building a supercar from an old Toyota" and you should see the video.

@@team3383 Just what you say... I do have a lot of these Burago Cars... waiting in the Attic of my Parents... the cost were around 20-30 DM back than... but this stupid 900$ ClickBait is not worth the good Video... very sad. And just as you said... I do own a Schuco F1 Lotus... in Black / Gold (John Pla*er Special Sponsoring). I like to add, that it do have a Spring Engine, so that it actually could drive on it own... Yeah... I think I was one lucky Kid in the 70's and loved my older Cousin for gifting me that car for Christmas.

Bit of advice for the future, plastic and white diecast alloy (the alloy that most of these toy cars are made of, which is aluminium and zinc), does not rust.

@@jimmccormick6091I apologize in advanced, for this lengthy post but I think it’s important to know. first off, the only things that should show rust is the screws keeping this thing together, but even that is doubtful, because the area the screws were found was still an untouched pretty red paint. Is it any wonder he didn’t display the screws in the disassembly assortment? The material the actual body of the car wouldn’t and couldn’t rust because it’s made of a pot metal called zamac which an alloy of soft metals mixed with zinc and magnesium, etc. Soft metals don’t rust they patina, and this zamac, although will show signs of pitting, again, will not rust. It oxidizes. Showing stubborn hard powdering that’s virtually hard to get rid of without sanding, scouring and plating, even then pitting is still obvious before body filler and paint. But a restore such as this alleged one, need to be plated with zinc, copper, or chrome to help stop further oxidation and cover any further pits. Also, this isn’t an old car nor is it a collectible, per se. This is what’s called a “manufactured collectible”. Where the only thing making this a collectible is the words on the package, though no where near worth more than what it originally paid for. No matter the age. For example: if you bought this particular collectible for $20 its price, at best, will either stay the same or go up between $1 to $5, depending on how old it’d be. That’s a big “IF”, too. Because this car would have to be 100 years old to get any where near the $1 to $5 profit range. Because items that say “Collectible” on them aren’t rare. Hence the name, “Manufactured collectible”. That’s why you’d see such a low profit increase in them after a century because they may not be as common, but they wouldn’t be rare. Real collectibles never have this word on them or their packaging.

I went to look at the 59 testarossa and then the 57 testarossas started to arrive. one after the other. there were 6 or 7 in total. my favorite car and they were in immaculate condition. what a day.

The actual rust on these diecast models has to play into question. I have seen damage to a lot of them, but rust? Secondly the title is a bit of a falsehood. $1 is a possible price for an intact but damaged die cast car ... turning it into a pristine die cast car worth $2000 would take gold plating ... not cleaning and paint.
