What is the behavior of subatomic particles when there is a voltage but no current? I fully understand that if there is no load there will be no current since there is no path for the circuit to close. When we use a phase tester and insert it into the phase receptacle of the electrical outlet, it turns on showing that there is electric potential at that specific point. What do you think that happens with the electrons? are the charges inside the atom polarized or charged with potential energy waiting for a path to flow? I hope you can get my point.
@EugeneKhutoryansky3 жыл бұрын
If we apply an AC voltage with no load, there is no current in the secondary winding, but there will still be a small current flowing through the primary winding. This small AC current creates the magnetic field in the core, which then creates the AC voltage on the secondary winding. The issue is that the mathematical model for an ideal transformer does not describe what a real transformer is doing.

@@EugeneKhutoryansky Thank you for your answer. However I undestand that part you just explained to me. I would appreciate so much if you could please answer this question I will ask you, so far nobody knows the answer. What do you think that happens with the electrons? are the particles inside the atom polarized or charged with potential energy waiting for a path to flow? I am taking about electric potencial at one point. I hope you can get my point.

Even if there is "no load", the two wires with an open circuit will act like a capacitor with a very small capacitance. Therefore, this capacitance will keep charging and discharging. So there actually is a very tiny current flowing to charge and discharge this capacitance. And when the capacitance is charged, one of the wires will have slightly more electrons and the other wire will have slightly less electrons.

Your videos have contributed in a priceless & profound way in my understanding of everything physics, and you are largely to thank for the success I will see in my endeavors now that I understand physics, particularly electricity. Your part will also play a role in me understanding electricity so well so as to prevent fatal shocks. I can't find the words to thank you, so when I am where I predict I will be within the next few years, I will seek to pay you back somehow. For now, I will subscribe. +Samiul Islam, This is discussed at the end of the video, where a light bulb is powered through a transmission line with step up transformer and then a step down transformer. The voltage across the light bulb is proportional to the current. But, the current through the high voltage transmission line is less than the current through the light bulb, thanks to the transformers.
@EugeneKhutoryansky8 жыл бұрын
+Samiul Islam, yes ohms law applies, but it is the voltage "difference" between two points that counts. A transmission line is at high voltage only in the sense that there is a large difference in voltage between the different lines. However, there is a small voltage difference between a point on a transmission line and another point on the exact same line.

Amazing how it shows the analogy of transformers to gears as well. It looks just like the current on both sides is connected like rotating shafts are connected by a chain drive or timing belt. You can see that there is a ratio of current, analogous to a ratio of rotation rates in gears. It would look like rotating gears, if he reversed the handedness of the secondary coil, to the current rotates in opposite directions.

it deppends of the direction of the coil
@carultch3 жыл бұрын
If the windings both share the same axis around the core, and are wound with the same handedness, the waveform will be the same. Use opposite handedness in the same location, and the waveform will be inverted. If by contrast, the windings are on opposite sides of a rectangular closed loop core like they are in this annimation, then opposite handedness of coils means same waveform while same handedness of coils means opposite waveform. This example shows opposite sides of a rectangular closed loop core, and opposite handedness of coils.
