Looks like a fun ride to me and I grew up in the early 80s with the originals. Had enough darkness.

This is not what I wanted but I'm willing to give a chance to this movie. I'm actually thought they're gonna go with something more mature, since the origins of the Cybertronian civil war is a very mature story (Cybertron was a dark dytopia in the alligned continuity, with a very rigid caste system/funcitonalism, and with a very decandet ruling class) But at the sam time we've never seen Optimu's, and Megatron's friendship in any movie, film. And they weresworn brothers before their differing philosophies, ideals turned them against each other. This move, it seems like will show how they met, and became friends.

This is a brand new continuity, plus this looks like Quintesson ruled Cybertron. The Cybertronians seem to live below ground. Caste system still seems intact as Orion says they're low level workers who can't even transform and they have a hole in their chest for the T-cogs to go. Likely the lower casts have their Transformation Cogs removed. Also the director has said that the story starts off light-hearted before getting darker and more serious. Also planned to be a trilogy.
