This figure isn't perfect, but frankly for an official hasbro figure, its the best we could ever ask for. Its an actual transforming figure that almost fully screen accurate in both modes and it manages to pull off having both its altmode and robot mode be in scale to the other figures.

The one thing I will say the original voyager did better is having the truck being able to turn on the trailer hitch. That was some really good engineering, but I can see why they didn’t carry it over to this figure.

@@zgok Are you kidding? Combiner Wars, despite the many repaints, was an amazing line and was exactly what fans had been asking for for years. Studio Series as well is a fantastic toyline giving is super accurate toys of movie character that they desperately needed, all while staying a very fair price.

Jarmo Verriet I LOVE the Studio Series line but the prices are in no way reasonable, at least here in Canada. $29.99 for a single deluxe is absolutely ridiculous.

Did you know you can tab in Igor to the top of the vehicle mode? There's a little hole in the cape where you can attach him through and plug him to the truck. It'll also help hold the Cape down

This entire time in my head I was thinking it was a voyager figure! I never owned any of the older Megatron Movie figures, for some reason this design worked for me though, maybe I'll have to pick it up if I can get it on sale!

I've been waiting for a review on this guy so thank you for being the one to provide it. I was on the fence about this guy for a while but after seeing how hollow he is without the cloak and seeing how awkward his legs are (those scrawny long knees that the official photography hides), the cheap rubbery hands, and the cheap half molded and half painted shotgun, this one is gonna be a hard pass for me. The cloak and chains also don't look so good but I had initially planned to just make new ones myself but with the rest of the figure being the way it is, it's not worth it for me. It's a shame that the figure isn't as good as it looks in pictures but hey, at least that saves me the $50.

Ben! I love the review and your clever accent! The waist section rolling forward at 8.36 is different than my copy! I do not have the two tabs that plug in as you roll the waist in! Were there two different versions??? Mine doesnt seem to be the same as yours.

I think it looks pretty darn cool. Was never a big fan of the DotM Voyager. Something felt off about it. This looks a lil bit blockier (I hate blockiness in Transformers figures, is one reason I can't stand the look of most G1 update figures) but overall the sculpt, detail, paint and general size are huge improvements and that vehicle mode is awesome. One of the coolest trucks ever in TF. Not sure about the cloth but that's something difficult to do well on action figures just cos of the way materials are at that size. The lil Igor figure is nice bonus too. Yeah I reckon I'll get this one and throw the (broken) Voyager DotM Megs away. :)

He has digitigrade legs and is supposed to be much more hunched over. No mention of that? It helps the upper legs look less skinny and gives him a more movie-accurate stance. Like rotf megatron he's supposed to be hunched over.

The original DOTM voyager Megatron also came with the hood ornament. The only problem was that it would break off the first time you tried to transform the figure.

The scale is accurate with Prime I’m pretty sure. Megatron gradually shrunk in the films, he was much taller in the first film than Optimus, but then roughly equal in height in RotF & DotM. He was smaller than Prime as Galvatron but wider.

The hollowness of the robot mode is a shame (but I guess that's where the cloak comes in), but I actually don't mind the boxy limbs. Sort of gives him an IDW Monstrosity sort of aesthetic. Like what you'd expect a Megatron on Junkion to look like (which I guess makes Igor Pentius?)

I think the Cyberverse Megs had the right idea, the truck itself was Megatron, and as such with this toy, they could have made it into a smaller less accurate bot. As for the trailer, that could have then been broken up to become a more screen accurate looking bot mode.

I'm kinda glad that these weren't that articulate in the 80s when I was playing with toys. I would have been frustrated at the time it took to transform back and forth in a play session with the 8. Transformers i had battling.

Also, what's up w the paint apps on the head? 5 different colors, none of which appear anywhere else on the figure, particularly the silver, one thing i loved about the voyager was they nailed the head sculpt and color, granted it was like 2 sizes too small but it looked awesome, should have matched it to that or at least matched it to the rest of the figure.

I kinda like the older transformation process since it doesnt have hollow truck mode, seems it even so hind heavy in vehicle mode that the front of the truck just raises up. Studio series could had based it more on the voyager class Megs and moved from there. Thanks for review!

I loved the concept of the dotm megatron, but i think it should have bean used on a different character, maybe a nemesis prime, or even how they did Galvatron in aoe(barf) but as cool as it is, it seems like a really really hard design to recreate in real life. This ones not perfect by any means, but its certainly better than the voyager and probably as good as it gets for a transformable version of this design.

Truck mode is hollow like the worsts kos on the road, the bot mode is ok, but is sad that you look from above the truck and it is hollow

So they've revamped DOTM and ROTF Megs which both look good, but is studio series gonna flop out on the much needed revamp of the first form megs from the movies, seriously we need a better version of his original 2007 cybetronian jet mode.

I think I still prefer the Voyager. The paint is better on the Studio Series one but the back-pack, those huge boots and just something about the overall aesthetic just doesn't work IMO

Would you recommend this or Bonecrusher & barricade? I love bonecrusher and want one, but dont want to drop $90 on the Transformers dream factory leader. I also love megatrons and really like this design. Is this one of those “cheap” feeling figures? Kinda like how leader blackout the plastic fells thin and kinda bad? From the pictures I was considering picking him up but now seeing how he transformation and how hollow he is- Ill pass. Ill stick with my very bad voyager KO and spend the money on FoC Megs instead. I get they're trying to go for higher detail movie sculpts and size but personally the best ones out of the SS line has been Thundercracker and Blackout.

This looks good and all but it's really ridiculous at how small Leader Class have become. If this was 2007, this size is basically Voyager size. Leader Blackout and Megatron from Studio Series should be bigger. Remember how big they used to be years ago? It's no wonder these newer molds have been upsized by 3rd party companies. It's coz Hasbro's are just small.... Period. They need to up their game because all these upsized KO's are putting their official products to shame.

He is my 2nd Fav Design of Movie Megatron, i like more 2007, I will buy him if he will be like 34/35cm tall size and dont have this big awful hole in cab of driver, same his shot-gun, really hasbro? One side weapon? It's Shame, Also Igor is nice addon. Nice review Ben, very liked the cuts in alt mode to show things! :)

LATOUR THIERRY funny thing is he’s the same size as his rotf toy in robot mode imo I think hasbro is going cheap with robot size I think they call it a “leader class” because his truck is bigger than the robot mode. Blackout is also an example of a robot being the same size as a voyager and alt mode being the same size as a leader.

Great review, Ben ;) Does the little guy have a name? And is it possible to put on his cape first and then fix it in place with the rubber chains (in robot mode of course)? And are the spikes made out of rubber? And a comparison in alt mode between him and SS Optimus Prime would have been nice. He looks awesome in robot mode but I have to say something's wrong with his truck mode. I think the tires should be a bit bulkier.

This is definitely a hard "...nooo" from me. Sure, the robot mode does a couple things better than the original DotM Voyager (not having a microscopic head being the biggest thing), but this is a complete downgrade from SS13 (RotF Megatron) in literally every other way...and even a considerable downgrade from the DotM Voyager. So just like SS05/SS32 Optimus (I'm good with the old HftD Battle Blade mold), SS01 76 Camaro/SS25 2016 Camaro Bee (again, I'm good with the old HftD Battle Blade mold), SS04/SS16 Ratchet (I'm good with the DotM mold), & SS14 Ironhide (I'm definitely good with the HftD Deluxe mold)...I can easily say that for SS34...yeah, I'm good with the original DotM mold. (However, I WOULD like that cloth tarp...that's another kickass improvement, one that I think 3P & KO will only improve *further*) As for future SS iterations, we NEED the 2007 Megs, like IMMEDIATELY. Don't care about TLK, as they'd most likely reissue the existing TLK Voyager or Leader figures the same way they reissued the TLK 2016 Camaro Bumblebee in that Target two-pack (as SS25). And as for AoE Galvatron...I don't see any possible redesign that could help that thing.

@@nachoprime9649 Honestly, the Recon Ironhide from RotF is probably the best of the Voyagers, but the HftD Deluxe is *not* a bad figure at all. They certainly don't have that fender sitting there in his gut like SS14, which is totally inaccurate. However, there's a lot of folks who feel that SS14 is WAY better than MPM6...(then again, most of'em feel the DotM Leader Ironhide is better than the Movie Masterpiece)

I'm definitely torn on this one. On one hand the hollowness of the alt mode and the kibble-tastic legs are really distracting. That combined with the robot mode size not living up to the leader class moniker can feel as though fans are getting ripped off. On the other hand the DotM Megatron was always going to be a headache for the design team, as his robot mode had no real discernible vehicle kibble. While he is small for a leader class figure, his size is at least consistent with the rest of the SS line.

Unique toys figured out that as long as you dont really see all that much of the vehicle in robot mode, just use a transformation scheme that turns the figure inside out

This honestly looks horrible compared to the original one. Sure the paint is ok but everything else is just questionable. The original had a neat transformation that integrated the trailer nicely and had zero backpack or awkward parts hanging out, while here they have an entire front of the truck as feet, the shoulders as the trailer and a backpack? His feet look incredibly disproportional no matter how hard you try to ignore it. Sure the original had a bit of a skinny waist but its not as jarring. And that bent rubber front grill, wow... Lets hope the knock off companies will do wonders to this poor bastard. They will have to do AoE Hound (Wei Jiang Detective) level of improvements.

Sania G bro, you stole every single word from my mouth. The studio series lines were doing great with the size comparisons to their own toys....and then they thought it was smart to make megatron a million feet taller than everyone else .Even though i also think this figure looks like crap, i'm still gonna buy it lol.

Yeah. This toy is straight up trash... Skinny thighs and kibble mania. Head and torso are the only good part of this toy. I hope that a 3rd pt company, makes an upgrade kit. Like something that will bulk up his thighs to be movie accurate or at least not as bad as this one. This one looks like it had atrophy or polio.
