This iteration of Ultra Magnus did not miss shoulder and chest day, just like Russ.

His chest opens up just like movie = take my money! This one's a beauty. Reminds me of how I used to drool looking at Magnus and Galvatron displayed out of the box at our local toy store. This was right when the '86 movie had just come out and all the TF fan kids at school were talking about it.

I love his new beefed up, looking robot mode! Even though Magnus isn’t from seasons one or two of the G1 cartoon, he will always have a special place in my heart. I got him secondhand off of one of the rich kids in the third grade. I was so proud, I didn’t care what he looked like from behind!

I have the xtransbots toon version which is insanely screen accurate, and this looks very nice and easier to convert so I’ll probably buy it for that reason alone.

It’s a phenomenal Ultra Magnus, complete with light piping and opening chest! Then there’s THE defining feature of it all being one figure without having a separate Optimus Prime cab redeco that combines with the trailer. Definitely thinking of getting this.

Sorry for the long comment, but I love that you do unscripted real first impressions. Great job on the review. I’m glad they gave Magnus the proper Commander treatment. Engineering to make the cab out of seemingly nothing is very cool! I also love that he breaks apart. Agree with you about the price point versus engineering and extra features. Puts the last Magnus release to shame. Love the Dr. Wu comparison. One of the main reasons I buy Dr. Wu figures is to see them next to their giant, standard versions -so cool. Would have liked a bigger Matrix, though. I’ve seen pictures of a single blast effect part between the rocket tip and shoulder cannon -looks great that way.

finally a Magnus from Hasbro I would like on my shelf...doesn't take much, just a trailer that looks like a car carrier rather than the bin lorries the last few have been and I am happy

Great review bud. I really like Ultra Magnus. I'm not a fan of the layout of this mould though. The head is to low but an easy fix with 3rd party. The truck mode is where it can't be fixed. The back end of the trailer is a lil too wide and not the same width as G1.

Got mine yesterday best figure of the year by far! Perfect magnus in ever way. Only prob I have is he is way out of scale, he should be shorter than the dinobots.

Just realized, when Hot Rod stored the Matrix inside of him, he got supersized. So when Ultra Magnus stored it inside him after Hot Rod gave it to him, then it should had supersized him too. Does that mean that Magnus should had carried Optimus' cab just like God Ginrai had a second cab called God Bomber and that's what it should had supersized Magnus.

Looks a great figure. Doesn’t seem to be very easy to get now. Was it only a limited release? I still like the Siege and Kingdom version though so I’m happy enough.

I am honestly torn between whether to sell him or just have him as display as he is just too difficult to transform into a truck. Cannot get the truck head to form properly so I just about reverse transformed him back into bot mode. I am bit disappointed and its kind of put me off buying anymore commander class transformers.

As much as I love UM, this figure is taking the piss as a Commander Class figure compared to Jetfire 🤷🏻‍♂️
