Sky Lynx only ever got away with his egotistical posturing because, well, he had the skills to back up his claims. He really was a tremendous force to be reckoned with. He really was basically a robot dragon in every sense, right down to the attitude.

Fun fact: Skylinx's design was a major element for the designs of Yu-gi-oh's Mecha Phantom Beasts cards. Juculusan and Dracossack are the closest to Skylinx's design.

Sky Lynx is my all time favourite Transformer. Probably because he is also the all time weirdest Transformer. This guy is somehow a beast former, a triple changer, a combiner and now thanks to his new War for Cybertron toy, a city former all at once. And yet nobody in universe bats an optic. Just treating him like a regular Cybertronian. Speaking of which, where even are Sky Lynx's optics? Are they supposed to be the windows? Then how can people look through them when in his cockpit? Has Sky Lynx secretly been blind this whole time? I don't know. Nobody knows. Because nobody will acknowledge how insane Sky Lynx's design is.... And I love that fact!

I loved his overbearing ego, even if it got a little annoying. It's refreshing seeing an Autobot being so vain and conceited, as those are traits that are normally given to Decepticons. Plus he's got one of the most unique and creative forms, such a strange thing that it works.

back in the day he was like one of a kind for having his robot mode look like an animal instead of a humanoid robot mode who speaks normally like a humanoid Transformer instead of acting like an animal like Ravage and Laserbeak in the G1 cartoon, not to mention he is made out of two separate bodies sharing a single consciousness.

Something I find odd is that no one had done a spotlight comic to explain what SkyLynx is, how he joined the Autobots, and why we don’t see more bots like him.

I am legitimately shocked that there wasn't a "Sky Lynx" redeco of BW Tigerhawk in the Universe 2003 toyline.

The guy is a big, bird, dragon, thing, with an ego the size of 2 cities.

I remember when I was a little kid getting into Transformers for the first time, I would watch whatever G1 episodes i could find that had been uploaded to KZfaq. As soon as i watched The Return of Optimus Prime, Sky Lynx stuck with me. Even though i barely knew anything about him, his design was so unique and unlike anything I expected a Transformer to look like. He truly is Magnificent

Stopped thinking "what is skylynx" and started thinking "how is skylynx"

Hey, instead of making him a decepticon, they should make a brother to sky lynx that is a deception.

That bit at the end was very apropos. Sky Lynx is definitely the Vegeta of the Autobots. Clearly NOT the best, yet infinitely convinced that he is.

I remember reading that Aaron Archer really hated Sky Lynx for some reason, hence why it took so long to get another Sky Lynx homage. For daily "fact that could probably have made it into the video": Sky Lynx is the reason that G1 Omega Supreme reissues became possible. Omega was also a Toybox design, and both were thought to be off-limits... but someone went poking around in the old paperwork and discovered that Tomy (the other half of Takara-Tomy) actually owned a patent for a "shuttle dinosaur." It turned out that Toybox had actually commissioned Sky Lynx's design from Tomy rather than designing it themselves. And they'd done the same thing with Omega Supreme--hence, Takara-Tomy owns that mold.

Rough, tough, smart, sassy, laud, proud, loyal and most importantly: someone you try so hard to forget, but CAN'T help but wish was around more often then they are, that's ME all over. Skylinx is officially my Cybertronian Avatar.

G1 Sky Lynx was the first combiner that checked ALL the combiner boxes Two separate pieces that could transform into separate vehicles, and could be combined into a single robot and a single vehicle.

I just got the Earthrise figure of him yesterday and it's the coolest thing I've ever seen. Also, he doesn't think he's better than everybody else. He knows he's better than everybody else. Sure, he was kinda stuck up and arrogant, but at least he was able to back up his claims about himself

The same triple change mistake in the comics also happened in the g1 season 3 episode "Surprise Party" when Ultra Magus took Sky Lynx to the astroid that Wheelie and Daniel went looking for data regarding Magus birthday. After landing on the astroid you saw Sky Lynx transform but into his Lynx half only. As a child I found that weird.

I wish that the Transformers toy designers would’ve made Deluxe Combiner figures of Thundercracker, Slugslinger, & Cosmos so we could’ve gotten the Combined mode from the comic

I'm so glad I found this, I have been looking for any information about that one transformer that I played with at one the banks in Montreal for the last 20 or so years, the original Sky Linx toy was that transformer I played with. (I'm 25 at the time of when this comment was posted, so I was around 5 or 6 at that time.)

I really wish Sky Lynx didn't have to die in Earthrise. I was so happy to see him and was hoping he'd escape the Dead Universe to help the Autobots in the future of the series.

You gotta admit, while he is Egotistic and Prideful, he can back up his words, and he's no slouch either. He's big, he's formidable and most of all, reliable. Yes he is conceited and borderline narcissist but he was never a danger to his allies. He was a 3-dimensional character, that's what made Sky Lynx very memorable.

Ah, Combiner Wars Skylynx. Never saw it in stores, online resale had it starting at $80, and went to the 2016 Botcon and there were THREE in the dealer room. I managed to score one for $35 there and shortly afterward had three guys trying to buy it off of me because they couldn't get one there.

One of my favourite Autobots., mostly because of the Lynx form.

For all his bluster, he might just be modest. After all who else could stand solo against Predaking with no hands! And he’s not nearly as bad as Sunstreaker or Tracks! Plus he’s at least as verbose as Perceptor.

My ONLY quirk about Sky Lynx is that despite the fact that he is SO different looking from almost every other Transformer, no one questions why and no explanation is given. He's just there looking like some space Griffin/dragon and everyone is just fine with that. I kinda want to know why.

I really liked Sky Lynx in the G1 cartoon, both for his boastful personality and unique design. "Earthrise" also took a pretty creative route with their depiction of the character, while staying true to his original counterpart. Speaking of his design, I think the bird part was based on several prehistoric, toothy birds like Ichthyornis.

Sky Lynx is so weird and I'm surprised there's not a lot about how unusual he is among combiners. He's still one of my favorite designsns

I have always loved Sky Lynx. One big reason was the he just kicked the Predaking's a** with relatively little effort, which speaks to just how powerful this Transformer is. He is arrogant but had reason to be!

G1 SL (and Omega Supreme) was officially released in Japan via the Encore line back in 2008 when Takara and Tomy merged. Together with Encore Omega Supreme, it was discovered that Toybox hired some Tomy engineers to design him and Omega Supreme. This makes him share lineage with the Zoids, SL that is.

Sunstreaker, Tracks, Powerglide, Sky Lynx.. The G1 Autobots sure had an ego problem among their ranks.

So this is my first comment on this channel. 1st This is the best channel for info on Transformer lore. 2nd Skylynx was my first Ttoy, and my favorite. But I only knew what his deal was after the Netflix series. So about 38 years of wondering what his character was like. Keep up the g9od work. We love this stuff.

I just love it, how Skylynx mentioned his hungarian name (Légihiúz) in one his old war stories in the IDW comics.

I've been waiting for this for so long

This is helpful I’m trying to make a transformers series either stop motion or drawing/ animated and now I can pull from other media to help bring skylynx to life

Sky Lynx was always one of my favorite characters in the G1 cartoon. Something about the combination of his design and his voice just meshed well and I liked his personality. I never had his toy, sadly, so the Earthrise figure filled a hole in my collection that's been there since 1986.

Great video has usual! I liked the Earthrise Skylinks episode a lot. I was very surprised how that character was much deeper than I ever though.

Sky Lynx is one of my favourites. Top 5 for sure. Love his unusual transformation and his personality.

Hasbro missed an opportunity for a Beast Wars Sky Lynx, especially during the time when they had those toys that just transformed between two animals. Sky Lynx as a griffin would be dope
