Transgender high school runner in Oregon booed after winning girls’ state title

A high school transgender runner was booed while being crowned as the Oregon Girls’ 6A 200-meter state champion.
Aayden Gallagher, of McDaniel High School, won the state title by two-tenths of a second. Gallagher was also booed while crossing the finish line of the race.
Gallagher also had the best time of the preliminary heats in the event.
The sophomore also ran the fastest 400-meter prelim, but lost the final of the 400-meter by 0.15 of a second.

It's already banned from most professional sports, just not at schools. They should maybe just let them race alongside each other at these school meets but announce them as 'First place trans' and 'first place girls' and have separate podiums (for the 0.1% of races that have a trans competitor)

I don't have an issue with transgender people on a personal level, but I do think it's unfair for transgender women to be involved in women's sports. Male and female sports were separated for a reason. Biological males are stronger physically then biological females. That's just a a fact, and I think it is unfair and physically dangerous at times (depending on the sport) for transgender females to compete with biological females.

Seb Coe( head of World athletics) has made it very clear, and this had to be implemented in 2023, that transgender athletes are not able to compete at World athletic championships. This is to ( and rightly so) protect the integrity of women's sport. I can't believe schools are not following these guidelines. I mean, i do understand that they are going to be more 'inclusive' at schools, as long as they educate any transgender student athletes that they won't be able to compete if you wish to pursue pro athletics.

What’s scary is that this track runnner is only a sophomore in HS. Usually, boys makes a lot of growth between Sophomore to Senior year. If Aayden keeps getting better, he absolutely could destroy all the girls in Oregon by running like 22.5-22.8 in the 200 and 49.8-50.5 in the 400…

People who say that the answer is to have a transgender category in sports are missing an obvious flaw, the transgender are a very small minority of people and therefore it will be difficult if not outright impossible to actually organise a competitive event. Men should compete against men, women should compete against women and men who like to play dress up should still compete against men. Simple. If that hurts your feelings then don’t participate. The medals that you ‘win’ by going against women are fraudulent and as far as the people are concerned, you did not win.
