With my ex husband, I never screamed. The abuse would've gotten 10 times worse if I had. Even if someone would've come to my aid, at the end of the day they would be gone and then I'd be alone with him and his rage at the fact that I had told someone. It was terrifying to think of so I kept quiet. The emotional abuse was just as bad as the physical abuse. I was too scared to leave him because I had nowhere to go except live on the streets or in some shelter and I knew he would find me and then god only knows what he would've done to me. I was lucky enough to finally escape after 2 years. Even though that was 15 years ago, I'm still scared of ever running into him. I feel that I'm constantly looking over my shoulder when I go out in public. I have flashbacks quite often and flinch anytime someone's hand is near my head. I'm so thankful I got away when I did. It's doubtful I would be here right now if I hadn't.

There's another channel on YT called Special Books by Special Kids and while these (this channel included) videos are informative and important for people to watch, I feel there's something here that may affect people negatively as well. I feel it's good for the public to get an exposure to real life; how visceral real life _can_ be as opposed to what people _think_ life is. It's not all TikTok and roses, but usually brutal with plenty of things that bring people down. That's why there's such a drug addiction problem for example. So many are aware of their situation that they self-medicate to escape their harsh reality. They live in this perpetual haze of falsities and confusion, hoping it'll someday get better without actually doing anything to correct or improve it. Regarding the second channel I recommended, a lot of those interviews are people with irreparable mental and physical disabilities, not relating to prostitution or drug addiction like on this channel tends to focus on. I still feel it's good to expose oneself to such realities, as long as it's done with the right mindset. It is not meant to depress and instead, educate and elucidate the public that such people are just like anyone else: they have to adapt (or have someone help them) to their situation and continue trying to find meaning and happiness just like the rest of us. There's some peace in that sentiment.

I don’t know why some of the viewers feel that they have the right to know someone’s story 100% to the fullest and most truthful capacity. I often wonder about all these people who say grandma raised me, #1. If her own child had substance abuse problems & they had a child with someone who had the same thing. The grandchild will have the genetic mix to possibly be 2x better or worse. How is grandma ready this time ? #2. After seeing how many missing children are in the US. I wonder how many of these young adults ,that are pimped out before puberty, actually real "grand children". How about a devious drug addict finds a kid they can use as a grandkid to collect benefits off of & pimp out. When the child is old enough to get away. They just kidnap a new kid to collect welfare off of ? How many of these people have no birth certificate, when they try to get a drivers license find out something is wrong with the paper work? Food for thought...

I'm not sure if I feel sorrier for her based on her appearance alone. I have watched quite a few of these videos and yes there have been some folks who weren't "pretty" or young and I didn't really go by their looks. But that's just me, and I'm already coming from a place where I accept people for who they are. Looks are basically just a matter of luck, especially in the beginning. But you're right, there will be some who judge more on how a person looks as to whether they are worthy of this or that. That's something to think about. Maybe people watching these videos will come to that realization after reflecting on it and maybe your comment will trigger something in others that makes them contemplate how they react to people in general. It really does say something about our society and what we place value on.

Mark is...different. I can’t think of just one word to explain what I’m wanting to say. Doing what he does is his calling. Not many people would be able to do this day in and out. You have to keep your composure during all the sadness, agitation, grief, anger, hopelessness. Alllll that while not letting it get the best of you. That’s a gift in itself. I’m thankful there’s people out there like him. We could all learn a little something. Thanks Mark for doing what you do!

I love the realness and awareness. I love the stories. I love the respect. I love the production. Keep it up! Mark is a total moron. He keeps trying to force in his little psychoanalytic theories on love, "the streets were what you knew as love." What the f***...?? You can tell she's not comfortable with that but doesn't wanna go off. And when she says candy keeps her going and he says "and crystal meth", holy shit. If this wasn't a paid interview and he did this in the streets, it wouldn't go down well. This girl would flip out on him fast af and maybe get someone to do something to him. It's obvious he considers his subjects like zoo animals. Respect in the streets can be complicated to learn, but this part is obvious. Respect means a lot in the streets and being oblivious is an easy way to get hurt.

I really wish this was in spanish, because I know so many young gays that really need to see and hear this. Life is beautiful and horrible at the same time, and at 11, 12, 13, 14 years old they just don't know, and yet are so vulnerable. In Mexico, the same things happen every minute of every day, but there is absolutely nobody that really cares about young gay boys, other than to abuse them, and there is such a great lack of resources, such as videos like this one. Please, if it is at all possible to do some of these in spanish, it would be able to help untold numbers of youth in latin america.
