The goal was to change this dated prewar large one bedroom with a terrace into a beautiful contemporary prewar space, transforming it to a contemporary prewar beauty. The renovation gut included kitchen and baths, expanded the kitchen, opened up room transitions, added closets, added through wall AC and through window AC, new vented washer dryer and new floor.

I love that it still feels like a prewar apartment (only better). So many makeovers I've seen of these types of spaces, it seems like anything beautiful, distinctive or original to the space is ripped out and replaced with mundane, standard-issue stock items to the point where it might as well be some mass-produced tract home. This feels like the perfect blend of modern features (updated electrical, etc.) and timeless prewar detail.

I really love bathroom renovations! They really do mimic the pre-war style. I really like the kitchen as well. The only thing I would do differently would be to add a full size dishwasher as apposed to the half size, but that's just a personal preference.

⭐⭐⭐⭐Another magnificent renovation performed by Paula & her staff. Having said that, I can only imagine the hurdles you went through when it came to the outside terrace floor. Stay Safe & Healthy... Abrazos

I wonder why the building owner wouldn't let you change the pavers on the little terrace? It isn't like the ones they have are the greatest looking pavers of all time, and I'm sure the pavers you would have of picked out would have been a million times better, plus the fact you can't even see them from the street, so it seems somewhat silly that you weren't able to change them. I'm sorry you weren't able to as I'm sure your paver choice would have been better. Oh yes, having any type of outside space in NYC is beyond wonderful no matter how small it is.

Lovely but could we get a better view from camera, wider view to encompass changes you are explaining e.g. wider steps, full bar station….👍

I agree. Lovely job as usual from Paula and her crew. The cameraman did miss providing a pano of the sunken area with the railing and wider steps so it was hard to visualize the entire space. I would have also have enjoyed seeing a frontal view of the full bar station.

Why why why…..the kitchen hardware is too black, too chunky, and too modern looking. It just makes the place look cheap. The light feature in the dining room is not right imo (understanding that is the client’s taste). The apartment looks a bit confused in my opinion. The basin in the powder room looks out of place, but the designed did a great job of trying to lessen that impact. I know this is the client’s “taste”, and hope she enjoys the space. Great tour though, Thankyou!

I think the black kitchen hardware looks perfect for the cabinetry. I like the way it looks. I don't understand why you think it looks "cheap" ??? To each his own I suppose. I also like all the molding at the base of the floor, that always seems to be overlooked, but I like the way it was done here, especially down the few steps, it looks really good. I love all of Paula's renovations and like the way she explains everything, and she also seems like a very nice woman.

@@adrastos761 yes, she seems lovely and does great tours and explanations. Yes, to each their own. It sounds like the client in this case wanted what she wanted, so isn’t (to me) as good as what Paula normally does. I think there could have been some better choices here. But, as long as the owner is happy, they have to live there!
