With your first tip, I would expand to allow that “grace” to never end. I’ve got 3 kids and it’s ok if they eat cereal for dinner sometimes. It’s ok to stay home and not clean and just play and eat. It’s ok to order pizza so you get a kitchen break. :)

I’m adjusting to 3 kids. Ages 5.5, 3.5 and 3 weeks. The transition from 1-2 was brutal because I was extremely depressed. This time I’m afraid of PPD again… I love this video because you seem relatable and real.

Same I had my two close in age and had ppd so now always consider that a factor in future pregnancies 😢

2 to 3 was my hardest I think mostly because of the spacing of my kids! I like how diligent you are about 1 on 1 time with your kiddos!

I’m glad to hear I’m not alone in 2 to 3 being the hardest. I did have more spacing between 1 & 2 though than 2 and 3.

I am an adjusting mom from 2 to 3 kids specifically 3 daughters.. It's really the hardest part for me because this is just a first time that I become a stay-at-home mom and doesn't have a helper as well.. So everything feels like new to m e from taking care of 3 kids with different personalities to organizing the house and preparing daily meals..

For me, the transition from zero to one child was the most dramatic. To go from 2 to 3 was easy because the other two could play while I was feeding the baby, and it was fine. Learning how to diaper my first baby and constantly tending to that baby was my biggest challenge as a mom.

Totally get the diapering aspect. My first day alone with all 3 was a constant rotation of changing bums lol.

I literally feel the same way! It was such a huge shock for me going from no kids to one kid ha ha. I now have 2 boys aged 4 and a half years and 15 months.

We just transitioned to 2 kids from one and that already seems like a big change! Once you get to three...that's the point at which you have more kids than hands! I think you're right that it's important to give yourself grace...and also your kids. The addition of another person is a big change for everyone in the family. Journaling is one of my favorite hobbies during this season of life. :)

Yup giving yourself grace should be part of every season of motherhood really lol Transitioning to 2 kids was the easiest transition for me but it’s so different for everyone.

Taryn, thank you so much for making this!!!! I appreciate it so much!! I definitely need to work on the time dedicated to each child individually! I feel like I am consumed with taking care of the baby and everyone else is getting f way less love than they deserve! And wow, mom brain! I REALLY resist this term (or anything that can potentially be used against me haha and show as if I am not capable to perform well. I think it comes from my photography work though - I want to prove that I can do a good job even if I am a mom or pregnant). So I just say that it’s all the responsibilities and tasks that overwhelm me. But this thing is REAL!!! The amount of switching between tasks really knocks me out of my flow and being concentrated!

Thank you for words of encouragement... To love all seasons of motherhood. I didn't think if this before. As you mentioned I have to keep faith that this period of darkness is here for a reason. I keep telling myself at some point things will turn around. Thank you!

I totally agree with lowering expectations, especially when it comes to having everything perfectly tidy. And yes on the freezer meals! I thrive on batch cooking and meal prep for the week too!

I love batch cooking too when I get a chance. Especially to have while my husband is away for work!

Anyone have experience with age gaps? I have a daughter whose 9 and a step son whose 8. Considering having a baby with my fiancé but I don’t know how the age gap will work. I feel like it’s an advantage since they are mostly independent and could potentially help me with baby?
