I'm pretty sure that the plastic molecules need a certain amount of time to fully bond. So baking at a higher temp for shorter time might not allow it to fully cure and the results could be really weak. Also, try baking the translucent for no less than then minimum time listed to get the clay to clear up.

Thank you Lingling Crafting! I love your videos, and this one answered all my questions about the translucent! I’m just starting out with making polymer clay opals, and your video confirms which product to use. 🤓

I am so glad someone else has to condition translucent Premo! like that! I've never read or seen anyone else say something about that but DANG it is hard fresh out of the package haha.

Haha, yes, Sometimes Premo clay can be very hard out of the package. For the translucent clay, I actually prefer it this way - when it's mixed in with other colors, your finger prints become a lot harder to show on the clay, which is good!

I'm pretty sure I got them from Michael's. I buy almost all my clay from Michael's, they have a pretty big selection of colors :).

I think I got them on ebay... it came from a set of 20-ish cutters, under $10 total! :)

Hmmm - interesting, but there's a few things off about these tests. 1 - your test pieces that you cut are super tiny, so you can't get a sense of translucency or strength with such tiny pieces. Maybe try doing this again with 1 or 2 inch squares. 2 - the thicker the clay the less translucent it becomes. It looked like your pieces were rolled 1/8th thick and they were tiny as well. Maybe roll them out to paper thin (or as thin as you can roll them without breaking). Of course it will be hard to see through those tiny little hard pieces. 3 - when talking about translucency - you are talking about the ability for light to go through something or the amount of light that passes through. You set the pieces on top of red paper on a table and then said none of them were translucent. They weren't translucent because you didn't hold any pieces up to the light to see if you could see the red paper and words through them. 4 - you didn't bake the clay according to the package directions. It says clearly to bake anything to the 1/4 inch for 30 minutes and you put it in for only like 2 mins. That probably wasn't enough time. And, again, your test pieces were way too small, too. You might want to try this test again. I like the different ratios you tried when you added the red clay - that was a cool idea, but because of the tiny dots/balls of clay you tested and you didn't follow the baking instructions - I'm sure all your results might not be valid. Please try this again with pieces big enough to see and thin enough to see through.

@@ripley2995 because of not following the instructions, but title say this is a guide: misinformation. the moment she said she baked for 2 mins i had to stop and read the comments. there's no point to continue watching with testing done like this and the results wont be correct. finally if thickness affect translucency, then doing pieces too thick kinda kills the purpose of using translucent clay. i think all their points are valid and thus the results shown are misleading and shouldn't be considered
