In this video we shape and cut out the knees and supports for the stringers, tack them into place, and finally get the transom glued in! CONTACT ME : ---------------------- IG: / matthewpkelly Email: mattkellyfishing@gmail.com

Yay - finally! I have put my restoration on hold until I have seen your version. I am doing almost the exact same thing and do not want to mess up - funds are limited :)

That paddlepop stick thing is so clever!!

for those kinds of jobs you got to get yourself a respirator with filters for organic vapors. The mask you are using are just particle filter masks. They won't stop the hazardous vapors. Stay healthy longer.

Looking great! Can't wait to get a boat of my own to restore.

awome vid! learned so much, one way to transfer those shapes is cut cardboard to length, and use dividers, or a compass set to the farthest distance to the cardboard and then use them to scribe a line on the cardboard, and it'll be an exact copy of the curvature, that's how us tinners do it

Hi Really like ur videos . Just a comment that might help next boat you do. Do you see the long indentations on either side of your middle stringer that is where 2 other stringer should have went . then you tie in the outer stringers to the center stringer with the ribs, then fiber glass everthing.Just trying to help a little .... thanks.

A couple of points buddy. The screws will not be enough to pull the transoms together. you should have bonded them to make one solid transom then clamped and wedged that in place.

Have you considered water flow along the centre beam to the bilge pump? Looks like you will have water pooling up at the 90 degree angles.

James Stewart under the floor of a fibreglass boat should be sealed, it’s the water getting in that wrecks stringers. Doesn’t look like this boat will have a bilge area as his stringer goes all the way to the transom.
@robertmccabe67454 жыл бұрын
Could you leave the centre stringer out and build stringers say 100mm off the centre to let any water run straight back to the bilge? I’m about to pull the floor out of a 88 17ft seagull I’m afraid I mite need a new stringer set up and transom. First ever boat project I’m frightened 😂😂

Love your videos man! They have been really helpful with my resto. Just wondering what you used to bond the new transom core to the existing fibreglass?

Nice videos... Same problem on my boat...

Before you glued the floor braces to the.stringer you should have sanded it all back to get rid of the shine because you might have a de lamination because of the wax in the resin . ??
@TylerLL21125 жыл бұрын
I’d say you are correct.
@Beachnative424 жыл бұрын
Wax in resin is not laminating resin, you can add it but it weakens the tensile strength. If no wax is in the resin then you should be able to glass over it as long as it's with in hours of curing. If not then a good surface scuff should be done
