Spring is here and I am pushing to get the last logs on the walls, but the height and complexity of the build is making it more challenging. There are not many logs left to go on the walls but I expect some of them to be very difficult. Some are so big that my tractor is not going to be able to lift them, and others need to be placed where my tractor can not reach as you will see in the video. I will keep pushing forward to get the log work done and I am excited to continue to share it with you friends!

Welcome to Traplines and Inlines
I have the pleasure of sharing my passions for the wilderness, building, fixing and all other things interesting with my great group of KZfaq friends.
I have lived offgrid in the bush for over 3 years, but now I am moving to the next chapter in my life and am building a big log home as my next place to live. It is going to be an incredible journey building my own home. I am using logs I harvested myself and plan to do most of the work by myself. This project will be the main focus of my channel, with many other adventures along the way im sure!
Thank you for watching

The bush way of doing the high logs is to build a sky line. Bury two logs 1 at either end so their standing high as you need then run your steel cable across the top run anchor lines like you would with a tent the logs being the poles. Then you put your hand pull chain winch up on the sky line boom youve got yourself a skechy AF skily line/ crane

P&H RT-180 (18 ton). Slung big logs all over Alaska and Idaho. All wheel drive, Jimmy 4-71, fixed cab, all wheel steering, low cg. Stay away from cab on turntable. High cg and an air throttle. A real pain to move around and set up. RT has one piece outriggers, goes about anywhere (including erecting lifts on ski mtns (had to have a D-6 pull me up and down cat trails but goterdone). These were made in the '70's & early 80's and should be fairly cheep. For your purpose, it can't be beat. Best of luck, Rick-Huge Erection Co.

KZfaqr “My self reliance “, put together a “system of pulley” that allows you to lift logs effortlessly, all by yourself. Its wayyyy cheaper Then getting a crane. That’s the way they used to lift stuff back in the old days before they invented cranes and etc. 😊 Or Do a KZfaq search for “how to install a pulley to lift heavy logs” or some wording like that. Best wishes

Can you rent a big excavator? Lots of them sitting around the farm country here. Id say they've got a long enough reach and the strength to move logs on and off. Or maybe you could buy and old one, use it to clear your homesite, dig foundation, stack your logs and then sell it... you can usually get your purchase price back out of used equipment if you don't beat it up... just a low cost thought
