You talked about how it’s good to trap the ball on the hook of the stick. I tend to kind of lay my stick all along the ground to catch the ball is that bad

It always depends on the situation but ideally, you should learn to trap both ways. If you are trapping the ball on the run you can keep your speed better if you stay upright, but if you are passing around the back, you could lay your stick flat for extra consistency
