I used to work for a Clock company we would put those weights together they had solid lead core that would go inside. the outside was real brass because you had to wear gloves so that your hands wouldn’t stain the brass. The clocks movement inside the cabinet are brass as well and it is mounted with 2 to 4 screws easy out

i dont know how they do it in Florida but in Texas the junk yards will give more money for those ballasts in the fluorescent fixtures might be worth taking them off first

where my husband takes his scrap metal he only gets 2 cents a pound he took in a little over 900 pounds the other day and got 18 dollars

Where do you do your scrapping in Florida? I lived in De Land for 28 years. Moved to Georgia and there isn’t too much of curbside bulk garbage pick up. Wish there was tho…

Charles, those clock weights have lead in them if you unscrew the nuts that are actually the hook the lead will come out also in the clock the movement is solid brass so the next time you see one you should try and break that movement out I build grandfather clocks for years

Save those light ballast, they pay decent for them. And take apart those microwaves because you’ll make around $6-8 per microwave in scrap

You should have left the weights and thing's to that Grandfather clock alone. Somebody would love to have the clock. That was mean and hateful to do that.
