General Levy was born and raised in London , this was a big song in the UK around 1994 , theres a video on KZfaq on him doing it live on radio 25 years later with all the grime guys,skepta ,jme dizzie rascal , etc , check that out when you can . But yeah just to clarify he’s a UK based artist

You have just ventured into the world of Jungle music. This sound evolved in the UK in the warehouse raves of the early 90's after taking dancehall, reggae, breakbeats, hip hop and becoming its own beast. It would spawn into the more widely known genre of Drum & Bass that still heavily thrives today both in the underground and mainstream scenes. Jungle music is still a staple today though, as you mention, the high energy and vibes it brings just make it perfect for clubs, carnivals and parties. There's a long list of DJ's, producers and artists that you can fall into the rabbit hole of but some of the old school ones to have a look for are Fabio, Grooverider, DJ Hype, Goldie, Slipmatt, EZ Rollers. If you find that you have a taste for this type of music than definitely check out some Drum & Bass after, especially when it comes to DnB MC's (Harry Shotta, Skibadee, Ragga Twins). There is a great Fire in the Booth DnB special worth a watch.

This was the absolute bomb growing up on the outskirts of East London as a teenager, Romford Essex representing 😂🇬🇧 I’m 45 now having a reminisce 😂 We’d have our little crew copying, making up dance moves and generally loving this vibe, then we’d go to car cruises with it booming out of our sound systems!! Uk jungle was and still is awesome!! Look up Ronnie size, the prodigy, shy fx there are tonnes of others etc. The UK vocal garage was my absolute fave!! The energy even now of those times and music influence was wonderful ❤

This was only supposed to be a summer tune in 1994... roll on 2024 ... that tune has been bangin for 30 years... he does the beat effects himself mid flow of his rap.. a signature sound of his and the tune itself ... the rhymes he drops are very good..

In the 90s and 2000s this English music was big in the rave scene in the US. Warehouses and big speakers. By the end of the 2000s and into the 2010s it went away and was replaced by louder more aggressive soulless versions of this music. Another great example of this type of music from that era is Original Nuttah by UK Apache and Shy Fx

I was just a kid when this came out, and I thought it was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever heard, M-beat had some backlash from the D&B community for releasing this as they wanted to keep the music underground, but I think it would have been criminal to have just kept it there, this track was the catalyst for so many other artists to come out and put jungle/drum and bass as a certified genre of music, in my opinion M-beat was one of the best producers especially his collaboration with Jamiroquai!
