Your video made me REALIZE Nintendo would have sold a lot of Wii Us if they changed the color scheme to a less iPhone look and ditched the lame "Wii" name. I STILL have to explain to people that the Wii U is NOT the Wii or an add on.

I am playing Breath of the Wild on the Wii U, and mainly on the gamepad...and I am loving it. This system is so good, shame they didnt rename and market it properly.

Nice mod, inspired me to complete my own. My Gamepad had a smashed LCD, drifting left stick. Refitted now with new PCB's and XBOX Elite controller analogue sticks and all I can say is, it just feels exactly like the Xbox Elite controller. No longer is it a disadvantage to use Gamepad in multiplayer! I also just kept Nintendo's original D-pad in, it felt better.

My gamepad from my over 10 year old launch Wii U works still perfectly. The Wii U was a quality product. There's nothing like a Stick drift or other modern controller problems.

Was it difficult to sub in the elite DPad? It looks to be the same size as the cutout on the face of the device. Looking at the actual component on eBay, it looks like some modifications may need to be done inside the shell to fit it.

Very easy fix, mine did that and after pressing down on the screen and lifting it it started working and still works

I've color swapped my Nintendo Switch, Joycons, numerous Gameboys, controllers etc.. so i have some experience I would like to color swap my Wii U gamepad to make it white. I cannot seem to find a general tear down video so I was going to just take a risk. What are your thoughts?

The screen on the pad looks better than what came with the wiiU. it's looks more HD. did you change it? or only the digitizer?

I like the black buttons and black joysticks but the black back with white battery cover and triggers isn't to my taste, if I did anything I'd keep the back entirely white and have black triggers. I have black buttons and joystick tops on order for my white gamepad but will probably be leaving the power, TV and home buttons white and changing everything else to black, not decided on the triggers yet and will see what it looks like when they arrive.

did the xbox elite controller parts fit into the wii u gamepad naturally or did you have to modify the plastic anywhere on the elite parts or the wii u parts to accommodate those parts fitting properly?

I like the contrast on the Wii U gamepad with the black buttons on a white case. Is there a certain place to get these? Does the knobs have to come off like you showed? Also can the left plus shaped buttons below the knob have to be magnetic? Can it just be black and not removable? Can you make a tutorial on how to change out the buttons on the white wii U controller shell?

If you bought a shell and a screen would you have a complete pad? It looks like all the parts are in the shell.

Every time I see how beat up some controllers or consoles are, I can only wonder how the hell people were treating their electronics.

The wii having a dawning pad then releasing the wii u probably hurt it a lot as well

So my game pad has a yellow tinted line on the left side of the screen maybe a quarter inch but just a straight line. I had it in my closet for some years without turning on, any have any ideas what it is or why it did that? It’s not power saver mode because beyond that quarter inch it’s the normal white bright screen.

I was hoping to see some of the actual repair work. Bummer.
