Wow, that was awesome. Really enjoyed every single truck in the video, especially the automated units. That Labrie sure had a nice operating style! Mike's truck sounded awesome. Glad to see those LE M/As are running pretty well. The other M/A at 6:50 was fun too. Love that dump and drag operating style like at 6:54 haha. The Curottos were really cool too, especially the old Wittke. Great job to you and all the others out there!

Excellent compilation! More units of variety than I thought. Glad to see some throttling up on the side load units, certainly recognize some familiar faces. Who was the dude on the Labrie? My lord that guy wastes no time! The Leach rear loader was pretty awesome too.

that'd be Desmond, aka garbagekid1, on the Expert 2000. It helps having carts placed in the street like that, and no recycling out, but I agree he sure knows what he's doing and was fun to watch! Thanks for the comment Jaccob

I stopped in Ft Collins CO today and I saw a bunch of Gallegos trucks, including a Mack LEU McNeilus M/A (truck number 440), and snapped a pic of it at a Shell station. Is that the truck you drive?

Hectic video Scott, I reckon this is right up there as one of my favourite uploads of yours - go figure it's getting a like and add to my favs :D Couldn't help myself but have a quick gander at the GSI website after seeing the trucks, action variety and boys at work. Got a cool local ring to the company name, awesome light blue/aqua colour and sweet body signage. I see they're very big on the Macks! Only noticed the 4x2 Leach, RORO and McNeilus at the end weren't the LEs, unless the first two were non-COE Macks? Such a broad range of trucks included too, one after the other kept coming - SL, FL, RL, RORO all made the presentation! Enjoyed the collections in the snow around the beginning of the video, all the imagery looked so mad with the white and brighter colours, very sharp and eye-catching ey! Copped a nice serving of revs as a viewer from 2:10, real sounding truck exhaust = awesome. Almost jumped outta my chair at 3:42, driver walks around the truck and suddenly BANG... he's pushed through the gates and pulling the bin out :O haha Am I the only one who loves watching electrical cords follow their object into the truck like at 5:12? :P Looks to me like you featured in this video a couple of times too... I saw how the bins were being moved down the road, similar to a certain hopper video maybe =] So what's the go with GSI, is it in the employment contract that you have to work swiftly and competently, or only put on a show in front of any cameras? Sooo nice watching crews actually move and have a go, instead of strike on the fact they're paid by the hour or have no motivation! Especially loved the very last pick-up in the video where driver and runner enthusiastically moved and manually swung the carts into the air - that was a pure legendary awesome scene, what a finish for a distant ending. Really been enjoying the Colorado shares, some neat and exciting stuff at play up there.

AussieGarbo Thanks Mitch. You're right, the Leach and latter mcneilus RL are both Internationals, of which GSI still has quite a few. Kenworth made the chassis of almost all their rolloffs and they're currently buying Peterbilt for new COE trucks, unfortunately none of which made it into any video of mine. I guess Pete provides better support, is easier to work on, doesn't have half the DPF issues newish Macks do, and the proprietary Paccar engine is apparently solid so far. I did make a couple appearances in this, and while employed there I often pondered what motivated drivers, who are paid hourly. I think it's as simple as everyone else (your coworkers) trying to make good time--so peer pressure?, some emphasis on it when you're first trained, and supervisors who don't run the clock or let employees get away with four lunch breaks etc. Unlike at some companies, GSI tries to keep drivers at 50 hrs or less each week, where a fair number of drivers and helpers only work 4-10s and enjoy three-day weekends (but have the option to work more). It's really the way it should be, I think. What are hours like for you? I think I read somewhere that JJ Richards is the only / one of the only employers in the industry to regularly offer much overtime.

I guess fair day pay for fair day work, no dragging the chain and taking advantage of being paid hourly - sounds like GSI doesn't want to be taken for granted and gives the boys a good deal. Needs to be the rationality for both parties, that in-between where the workers get paid reasonable or excellent money for doing a decent amount of work, without going overboard into overtime, so the employer gets their monies worth and has a happy/satisfied workforce. I'm very happy with my current hours at Richards... I get some earlier finish shifts within the standard 8 hour day, sometimes I work the full normal 8 hours and other days there's a bit of regular overtime or that flexibility to do overtime if I really want it. I'm at that middle mark I want right now. Previously had a taste of the unsatisfying tiny workloads and mini shifts, also done real long days for big money, but that leaves you fatigued, without personal time and feeling used up! With my employer it depends on the location you work in, some places have quite a lot of overtime, others just a standard 40hr week - honestly don't think they're massive on large overtime offerings. Guess it really depends on the workers and bosses though, what they want and what their ethics/morals are haha
