I went down to El Cajon yesterday, to record the new EDCO trucks and see how they'd manage their routes, which were being done for the first time. I thought they looked beautiful in their fresh paint, though they seemed no better than the trucks WM had ran. When I had finished filming the residential trucks I started back to my part of town. But on my way back I spotted a New Way Mammoth front loader behind me, almost felt like it was almost calling me to wait.
A little while later one of the other New Way front loaders came up behind me along with one of the Sidewinders. However, I was in a rush to get back to town so I wasn't able to get any video...
Enjoy these two identical units knocking out an apartment complex. The one assigned to trash duty was having trouble with the autopack feature, which is why you see the driver stop to sit and pack every 3 cans. Be nice to these guys in the comments, they're both new to driving automated trucks and to this part of town. Skip to 9:11 to see a cool shot demonstrating the Sidewinder's impressive 12 foot reach.
For those who are wondering, according to the recycle driver, EDCO bought 9 of these. 3 for trash, 2 for recycle, 2 for greens, 2 as spares. He also said they got 5-6 of the mammoth front loaders. One noticable difference between these and the 2018 order of New Ways is the silver grille.
