I like this spin on affordable travel gear at box stores. Please do more at other stores :)

This is great. Everyone always reviews all the $200-$400 bags, but neglects the entry level gear. I'm sure there are people on a super tight budget and maybe this just gives them the taste for travel. It is also a super underserved youtube crowd. It may not be everyone's first choice, but it could be their first travel gear purchase.

Great vid! I really liked this 'change up' to reviewing travel gear. The switching between Lauren's arms to hairier man arms in the 'close up view' clips made me giggle too.

Walmart has a huge selection of stuff you can order online and pickup with your groceries or have shipped to you. That's the way I've successfully sourced unusual or better things from there. They basically act like Amazon that way. I think doing this sort of video is a good idea. It shows you KNOW you have audience members who are significantly stingier than you. However, part of being super frugal is spacing out all of your purchases and choosing which things are actually worth spending a lot of money on. For example, I'm happy to be frugal about the toiletries and toiletry kit I bring traveling; I basically use bar soaps or solid options as much as I can and use a gallon size bag as my "kit". I don't use packing cubes because that's just more money I have to spend. And compression cubes can also deceive you into overfilling your bags so they weigh too much. The best, most frugal tips you could give people is to have patience and plan for your travels for a longer period of time, budgeting each expense along the way. But I get it. I watch a lot of makeup videos and the hauls get more views, comments, and shares. 🤷‍♀️

Lauren asked for suggestions: Duluth Trading Company. I purchased one of their backpacks just before I was enlightened by PH. I’m happy with my Duluth bag but I would like to see a PH review also DTC has loads of travel accessories…but I don’t think the travel hatchet is TSA approved? Keep up the great reviews.

This is now my favorite review of Laura. She nailed the perfect blend of jokes and right amount of formalities which made the review more practical and connected to the viewers. Yes i also fidget with wallet clips and thanks for featuring our PHP50 bill. Love from Philippines!

Thanks for doing this video! Travel can be so expensive. Waiting until you can afford all the perfect Gucci travel gear can create a huge barrier of entry to travel. I was impressed that you were able to give these items a fair chance. Also, a decent travel bag for $30 is insane! Lots of the bags that get recommended are 10Xs that expensive. ✌️

Can you guys make a video on bags/gear for working people? When I was a captain I struggled to find lunch containers that didnt leak, waterproof backpack/bags. Always needed portable chargers. I filled a M northface duffle everyday. I know construction workers everywhere would appreciate knowing where to spend there money

Upgrading the toiletry bottles seems worth the investment. For a cheap version I would swap out the provided bag and go for a simple 1 quart ziplock. After having soap spill once in my bag I am a strong believer in good quality for the the toiletry items. My entire first night in a new country was spent cleaning soap out of everything I own, never again.

This is a cool style of video. You could always do seasonal sale type videos or “what you can get with x amount of dollars at REI etc.”

I bought the daypack on a trip and it's worn the test of time! it is very thin but pretty psckable and light. I was surprised it's so durable. Mine is a blue I don't really like but I have brought it on several trips over my marmot day pack!

This affordable look at equipping for travel is great. 2 suggestions: 1-what affordable travel gear can be picked up at the REI garage sale/ReSupply area; 2-what affordable travel gear can be found while thrifting? That is how I picked up much of the gear I use. (Your many videos are excellent information about what I just picked up thrifting).

The Ozark Trail (formerly Outdoor Products) Traverse 25L is a great value at under $10, before tax. It's a fantastic little backpack.

Reeeeaaaallly appreciate that y'all did this at Wal-Mart. Travel can be accessible for more people even if you can't afford gear where each piece is over $100. Sometimes it's worth it for the quality - but not everyone can. Always enjoy and value all of y'all's reviews - thanks!

I've found the Ozark Trail line of insulated coffee mugs to be just as good as the more expensive ones (Y*ti) and I pretty much never travel without one. I'd think that their water bottles would be almost as good, too!

You might consider adding the weight (packed and unpacked) of the backpack/duffel. Weight is actually most important with anything you carry with you.

Finally, some affordable products! Sometimes it seems that you have piles of money to spend on overpriced gear. Keeping it simple is appreciated.

Walmarts silicone 3.4 oz bottles are absolutely phenomenal for tooth paste.

The toiletry kit there is one that I have and use, though it's more for something to bring in the car with places as it's useful for things like sunscreen, bug repellent, and a few other, larger things that are useful for outdoors activities where it just goes in and out of the car

HI Lauren, great viedo, Here in Italy we don't have Walmart, maybe a similar video can be made with a Decathlon store that I think is present not only here in Europe but also in US. What do you think about?

why did you buy 10+ bags for a "35L" bag? i dont think this is a reasonable list. should slow down on the pouches etc. and spend that money on a new wardrobe at walmart. for $173 you could have got literally everything you need including clothes, toiletries, electronics, containers, etc. Just bring your phone, headphones, passport, and ID that you already have and you are all set.
