Thank you for letting me know what rights I have! On my way back home from Chicago, there was a delay after another because there was a lack of a flight crew, DESPITE ARRIVING AT THE AIRPORT TWO HOURS EARLY!

One time my sister and i were running to make it to our connecting flight only to find out that they had just minutes prior handed mine and my sisters seats to two other people in the overbooked flight. They re booked us 10 hrs later on a different flight out, and compensated us nothing meanwhile the other two passengers that gave up their seats willingly got compensated $1,500 each. I still don't know if that was our fault, i asked and was told that sometimes the flight leaves a little earlier than the scheduled time and that we had to be there sooner.

Thanks for this video, so helpful! Just a month ago I was traveling to Brazil from Europe. My first flight was delayed, and as a result I lost the second flight. I stayed in the help desk queue for 9 HOURS, no joke(it was fine tho) When it was finally my turn they told me the next flight to my destination was fully booked.. and this flight was only once a day.. But they were super helpful and found an alternative route, through Argentina and then another city in Brazil and from there to my destination. So I finally got there, 30 hours later than planned, and luggage gone too.. I got my luggage after a week tho. I’m glad I had insurance, but I wish I saw this video before I went! At least I learned a lot! Thank you☺️☺️

We volunteered to go back to Graz from Vienna via train and got paid the ticket and 250 bucks each so it was a pretty good deal for us :) Otherwise we were very lucky so far with our flights :) Keep pushing your limits! 🥷🏼

I guess i've been fairly lucky and never had any major problems flying hundreds of flights the last 20 years. One thing I recommend is only have carry on. If you can pull it off with just one sub 15 pound carry on backpack it can make your life so much easier when traveling. "Ultralight" is a mantra in the hiking world, it should be for world travelers too.

Thanks Lexie. Once went to SFO on business. My suit was in my checked luggage. It got sent to NY! I went to the meeting in jeans...and it took days to get the luggage back. Even then they wouldn't deliver it up to the house I was staying in. Just to a nearby country club. I'm off to Scotland, well if they lose my bag again, at least I can have an excuse to buy a Kilt ;) Thanks for the tips.

Lexi, Hands down best tip for Flight and stays was Searching Anonymously and using a VPN. Just after Christmas, We decided on a Trip to Puerto Rico. I remember getting frustrated with some of the previously saved Searches. That I saved to show my Fiance. Within a 24hr period these cheaper options, All the sudden were the same prices that I was trying to avoid. We are on a tight budget so the increase was enough that we wouldn't be able to go. We got into a silly scrabble over it. I thought the prices went up because we took too long selecting an option. We went to separate rooms in the house. A couple hours later he Flys down the stairs and had a whole list of places Within our budget. Some of these were the ones I saved! That's how we discovered the Searches were somehow sharing Searches and matching them to the high prices. We ended up booking on his phone. I didn't quite understand what was going on but we knew it was something fishy. Then I seen the VPN tip and it clicked! Thanks again for that! 💜Erin Upstate NY

Wow! I wish I knew this a few years back. Was bumped from my flight & I know that’s what happened because a friend who was supposed to be on the flight before mine (but missed boarding) ended up IN MY SEAT 😂 parents & I had to pay out of pocket for a hotel that night because there were not any open seats for the 3 of us on the plane & no more flights until the following morning. Airline refused to pay for our hotel when we asked.

This is super helpful, especially the lost baggage. I've never experienced it but this is my greatest fear.

Most important: GET INSURANCE. Also get travel credit cards.

In 2018 I booked a nonstop flight from Seattle to Paris (CDG) through Condor Airlines. I got to the airport thinking everything was fine; I got there 3+ hours early. The counter for the airlines was supposed to open 3 hours before the departure time so I waited. Turns out the 1 (one) flight that took this route was getting cancelled and bumping everyone to the following day because the plane planned to arrive in Seattle never showed up to the airport … from Germany. So people who needed to fly the previous day were bumped to my flight and there was nothing the airline could do. I ended up extremely lucky by booking a flight to Paris through London on British Airways. The flight I bought on Condor was more than 800€ and I only got about 600€ in a refund months later.

During my return from Edinburgh to Chicago, British Airways lost my bag and I was pretty stressed since I live in West Michigan, not Chicago, and am 3+ hours away from the airport. But they did deliver my bag to my home and I believe it was within 24 hours. It was damaged and a few souvenirs were unfortunately broken, (it honestly looked like it had been run over on the tarmac) but it just wasn’t worth making a claim to the airline.

I have been traveling all around South America last week it was my first time in the US was my worst experience ever I had a connection flight through DFW and somehow the gates were all in use so we had to wait on the ground about an hour and I couldn't use the restroom one of those flight attendants was sitting right in front of the restroom and keep saying that it was too dangerous the plane can move anytime once we finally could get out everybody ran so did I, luckily my other flight was delayed and I didn't lost my flight after all

Hey, little confused about the delay compensation. I'm seeing that they don't owe anything for delays, but it seems like the numbers you were listing are for involuntary bumping arrival times. Am I missing something?

Thank you for making this video! I will keep these tips in mind for future flights especially if a flight gets heavily delayed or cancelled. For the tip regarding getting involuntarily bumped from a flight, I remember reading or hearing somewhere in the past that if there is an overbooked flight, it is very important to check into your flight as early as possible which I know you mentioned that too briefly. I'm even curious too if being a medallion member for an airline (I have Silver Medallion status for Delta for example) if that gives you a higher chance too of not being bumped off a flight due to overbooking. That might be something I'll need to look into. Great video!

One time at the Detroit airport I had my gate change 6 times. One of the most annoying flying days of my life.

I was in Central Australia for a group trip and they left behind someone's bag, so they had to drive it out whoop whoop because by the time the next flight arrived (24hrs later) with the bag, we had already done a whole day's driving ahaha

I know in the EU if the flight is delayed by at least 3 hours (?) you can likely claim compensation (I think at least 250 EUR?). Only managed to get that once , which was way more than the flight had cost (though they do make it a bit hard to find/claim). Now if it's delayed a long time I almost hope it's delayed long enough to get paid for it :P (though it rarely happens).

if it's valuable, keep it on you, don't put it in a suitcase that may get lost!

except for china, airlines usually experience delays of 1-5 hours daily. if bad weather you would be rerouted to another airport mid flight and experience delays of up to 72 hours. all without compensation.

Met a Delta gate agent in ATL on 4/1/22 after my connecting Delta flight out of DCA was late causing me to miss the Delta connection. Gate agent attitude was disgusting when I tried to find out what I have to do next. Some of these agents gate wise or other sometimes deserve a good talking to. I had to sleep in the airport for 12 hours. Not even a hotel or meal voucher was provided.

funny enuf on my first flight to the uk they lost my bagage but te next day they deliverd it so all was fine.

Delta airline overbook in atlanta montreal got 675$ voucher pay for for my trip to madrid a month later and some left over for my cousin wedding in floride about 6 yrs ago
