These are less visited and therefore less known countries in the world. Thanks to brave travellers like you, most of us are able to know about the stories of those who are living there. Slavery is one of the darkest and shameful aspects of human history and I find such videos very helpful to learn what happened in the past, to understand our mistakes and to contribute a better life for future generations. I sincerely believe that my hometown may be dangerous for tourists but this doesn't mean that I am racist against my own people. - Speaking of racism, why you needed to emphasis that she was a white women? If she was black, would it be ok to mispronounce the name of this place? - Are you confident that wherever you visit as tourist, you will be able to correctly pronounce the name of that place. I'm 4th generation of a brazilian born family descendant from people from Benin/Gulf of Guinea, brought to Brazil as slavers. And can tell you, it's heartbreaking to see those places and realize, once more, what happened to my ancestors. Thanks for the video, i'm really glad to see Benin now as this beautiful place, with strong and happy people!

but Benin was making a fortune from slave trading, so much so the king of Benin sent emissaries to Britain to convince them not to end slavery, the king knew it would destroy Benin.

As a Londoner who lived in Benin for over a year I can tell you that it is the most beautiful country where the people are friendly and welcoming. The culture is rich as is the wildlife. The history of Benin can stir the emotions and you have to brace yourself when you learn about the slave trade. Food is great and varied and caters for all international tastes. Its much safer than Nigeria and other neighbouring countries and taking very basic precautions the nightlife is fantastic. Go and discover Benin. I loved it and wish I was back there now.

I've been sponsoring two girls from Benin since the middle of the 90-th, but a few years ago the Swedish branch of ChildFund for some reason did not continue to be involved so I had to change to another country in Africa. Beautiful video! I really love seeing all the smiling faces and the happy dancing. They really are inspiring people! I actually had never heard of Benin before this video but now I'm interested in going. Africa is my favourite continent and I can't wait to explore more of it. I love going to places that aren't super touristy. It feels like a special experience. I like your vlogging style. It's like a documentary the way you have someone else filming you talk. Awww I love snakes! It's nice that the locals share the same appreciation of them :) I like how the pythons can just roam around as they like.

I visited Benin last year to listen to and see the origins of my ancestors. I too am a Haitian...I visited some of the areas you documented (Ganvie, Ouidah) and some others however, there is so much to see in Benin. I highly recommend that if you plan to visit, knowing how to speak French will make your trip more convenient lol. The people their are beautiful, peaceful, the country is nice however just like many countries throughout the continent it is a work in progress. Please do your research before visiting their country to learn the norms, taboos and such so you don't indirectly offend their culture. Benin 👍🏾😍

This is a very uplifting and sad story,all at the same time.Seeing where ones ancestors started life,and was removed from there home by some cruel and greedy people ,treated like a criminal,put on a ship never to see home again,all for profit in the slave trade.That period of time may be in the past,but not finish by today standards.

Which I feel is overlooked. The children are the future and their minds need to breathe in fresh positivity about themselves. It would be an honor to travel amongst my ppl bringing self esteem. The young child that was interviewed by Blax-it, "Ousman Gusman" something like that, from Gambia. Before I heard of Bla Xit or the teen. I had a dream of his interview. I said, that's the young man that's gonna make a difference. He's gonna be President. Then I heard non melinated countries wanted to swoop him up. I texted Bla Xit and told them please don't let him leave afrika and protect him. Look at him now.
