@@T_Boz1 you are indeed correct. Last time I was there it was still known as the Ukraine not that it is any excuse. In a similar vein I still say The Czech Republic rather than Czechia. Old habits from someone who has studied Eastern Europe and Russia for decades.

I was born in a city and my sisters and spent at least a few weeks each summer with our grandparents. Mom grew up on a farm and I spent lots of time there. And yes, there was lots of work to do even for children. But there were lots of opportunities to explore, go fishing or hunting, ride horses... My dad grew up in a small town. The joke was it had between 25 and 30 thousand people, but a lot closer to 25 people. It did have a bank, post office, store, blacksmith shop and cotton gin. There is a creek nearby and my sisters, cousins and I explored for miles in each direction. In my part of Texas grandparents are still very involved in raising children. When we moved to the coast we spent lots of time on and in the water. We were a three boat family. My older sister and I had a sailboat. That lake with that breeze made me want to go sailing again. That clear water made me want to go SCUBA diving there, when the water warms up. But I doubt it ever gets to be what this south Texan would consider warm. Oh well, that's why we have wetsuits. I appreciate your videos Anna. Many are hard to watch, but as you say, the world needs to know. I'm glad you got to visit a place where you have good childhood memories of. After this WAR is won by Ukraine I hope you will show us more of the wonders of your beautiful country. Slava Ukraiai!

Perfect! Water lapping is *such* a soothing sound. And that birdsong too, is lovely to hear. It's nice to see water so far inland there. That's deep *and* wide, gosh! Here in the UK we are never more than (I think) something like 77 miles from the sea on mainland UK, no matter where we are here. Closer if on one of the surrounding islands of the UK. I wish I'd known my Ukrainian grandparents. I only had one alive here who I barely knew, and who died when I was a young child. I am similar to you, in that, I much prefer the 'in between' seasons when it's blissfully quiet - just the sound of nature around me... Quiet voices are okay, but I just don't get why some people have to be so loud in rural places. As children, we were always taught to respect nature by being quiet in its presence. It was exciting to think we'd get a special insight into what it gets up to when it's not frightened away from us. As dad used to say, "There's a time and a place for everything". Funfairs, discos, and birthday parties; okay... But in rural places, we were on what seemed like an adventure to discover what we would normally miss. Pines, oaks, and blueberries, perfect! 💙✌💛

Never a big fan of eels (although I had fished for them), but I have become a great fan of a Japanese eel dish called unagi sushi! Also reminds me of the freshwater lakes of my childhood, although I tend to prefer brackish & salt water shores - I have almost never lived more than 45 minutes away from such shores! Hello Anna , it is good to see you in the outdoors. Sometimes you just have to get away from the modern world and clear your head and in your case you have an extra reason to seek some peace and quiet. I once travelled on a navy ship at night and to get some space I went to what they call the focsle (front of the ship) and laid down on the deck. I looked up at the stars , we were going very slowly as the ship was navigating through the Great Barrier Reef and it was wonderful to drift through the stars as that was what it seemed like. One of the most glorious sights to behold and one I will never forget. regards Wally.
