First Time In Scotland | Trying Battered Mars Bar & Scottish Curry | Hostel Travel Series Part 2

On this UK travel vlog we experience our first time in Scotland, where we finally get to try the famous battered mars bar and a Scottish curry (i.e. the chicken tikka masala)!
On this trip we are using the Safestay Rail Pass to cover our hostel accommodation and train journeys. We also include a coronavirus update with regards to our Europe leg of the trip.
We started our day with some sightseeing at the Glasgow Necropolis and Glasgow Cathedral (the oldest cathedral in mainland Scotland). We then tried a battered Mars chocolate bar from the chippy for the first time followed by walking up the spiral staircase to The Lighthouse, which has a fantastic viewpoint of the city from above! Best of all? It's free!
After working up an appetite we then decided to try the UK's national dish in the place it is said to have been created.. the chicken tikka masala curry!

⭐ About Travel Beans:
Welcome to the official Travel Beans KZfaq channel! On this channel, you’ll find a variety of travel and vlog content, in which you’ll see us in places like Thailand, Japan, USA, Slovenia, and more.
In 2017 we left home with just £500 in our bank account and a dream to make a sustainable travel lifestyle happen! We are now living our dream as digital nomads and want to inspire you to create your own story, whatever it may be!
After 5 years of aimless, yet enjoyable, backpacking around the world we found ourselves in New York City battling with depression. At this point, we decided to go home and confront this problem head-on. After 6 tough months at home we decided to go away again, but this time with a goal in mind.. to turn travel into a lifestyle.
Our time spent battling depression has influenced our outlook on life dramatically! We are now traveling the world in search of what makes us happy. In our vlogs, we talk openly and honestly about our travel experiences, the digital nomad life and depression. We hope our videos can help to inspire you to create a life that makes you happy!

Beans Oot!! Love it!! Just found this vlog. We lived in Scotland for 28 years, 9 years of it in west end of Glasgow. And we miss going for one of those amazing curries. Glasgow's the best!! We do miss it. We're in SW France now, Midi Pyrenees. Really enjoyed seeing you discover Glasgow and how brilliant it is. People are so friendly too. We loved your later vlogs on touring Scotland. You always make us laugh. Thanks :) 😊❤

LOL! Loved the 'big fat nap' and really needed all the laughs, so thank you! The food looks amaaaazing. Glasgow looks like an older, more gothic, NYC, which is really enticing. Your shots of the skyline and the cemetery were fab. Would have loved slower pans and longer holds (just a twinge) so I can admire. Overall, thank you for all this fun-ness!! Stay healthy!

Love a deep fried Mars bar, in York there is a place that does a deep fried cream egg which is a taste sensation. I had a mate at university who had a deep fryer and we tried a range of deep fried confectionery the best was deep fried marshmallows and worst was probably the deep fried fruit polos

We think Glasgow is brilliant. Way better (cheaper and less touristy) than Edinburgh. Lot of interesting (and free!) museums. Great food. Curry places are good, and there are really good family owned Italian cafes too...brilliant ice cream sundaes. If you have a car, Loch Lomond is only an hour or so away.

Thanks for addressing COVID-19. Can I ask how delayed your videos are (when you were in Scotland)? I have a trip to Scotland planned in 5 days and I'm a bit nervous. We'll mostly be in the highlands so I don't expect much risk other than being super careful in the airports on the way there.

Hi Jeffery, great question! We filmed this video last Tuesday (3rd March). There is so much confusing information out there at the moment and it feels very unclear. Italy have just announced the whole country is now in quarantine and that has changed drastically from their situation this time last week. All we can say is to keep an eye on your governments advice for traveling and also the UK's travel advice for your trip and do what feels right for you🤞

There’s 30 cases of the virus in the whole of Scotland. All the people the patient have interacted with have been accounted for and are/have been tested. Just be sensible when you visit, it’s all that’s being asked of you. Edit: the number has reached 36 now. With the first case of it being passed between strangers.

Hiya. The traditional drink with curry is beer. So, Cobra Lager - invented in India in 1989 specifically to be less gassy and bloating when drunk with food, especially Indian food. Exported to the UK since 1990. Also, Alex, it seems you've been to India, so you should know, even if you're left-handed, that if you're going to eat with your hands you only use your right hand to eat with; your left hand being reserved for something far more personal, maybe later on, after the curry. Shall I just say "Ring of Fire"? All the best to you.
