The Fergana Valley is an area of Central Asia that has been ripe with conflict for years. Today, however, it is far more peaceful. In this video I take you to Margilan, a Fergan city known as the textile capital of Uzbekistan. A third of the city's population is involved in this trade, which includes work ranging from growing raw materials to the finished silk fabric. VERY few tourists come here, and when I came in 2023 I didn't encounter a single one.
Uzbekistan (Oʻzbekiston) is a lovely ex-USSR country located in Central Asia. Its official language is Uzbek (although the majority of the population also speaks Russian).
Neighboring states: in the east - Kyrgyzstan; in the northeast, north and northwest - Kazakhstan; in the southwest and south - Turkmenistan; in the south - Afghanistan; and in the southeast - Tajikistan.

If you search around on google, you can find many good resources like Lonely Planet, Caravanistan, Journal of Nomads, and Atlas Obscura. However, many of them are outdated. For the most up to date Uzbekistan info...
