@@beanoyip06this specific rujak? No. This rujak is really unique, even for most Indonesians, because of the cingur (cow/buffalo lips). As for the common/og Indonesian rujak, as far as I know it's different from the Singaporean and Malaysian rujak (or rojak in Malay). I forgot what makes it different but I believe it's well explained in Wikipedia

The good thing about Bahasa Indonesia is that it’s a very simple language, the pronunciation of the consonants and vowels stay the same within a word and from words to words (e.g., the vowel A in Makan, gado-gado, naik, etc.)-unlike the English language where the A in the word ball, stamp, bake are pronounced differently in each of the word.

FYI, rujak is kind of salad, rather than soup 😊 and most of East Java culinary are stronger taste or spicier than Central Java or Yogya's cuisine. If you wanna try something spicy, please try Nasi Bebek, fried duck with black seasonings and of course with hot chili sambal 😁

Btw you have to try the Lontong Balap at jl. Rajawali not far away from BRI Bank. It's also the traditional food from Surabaya. You couldn't find anywhere. You can also find many delicious food at jl.Kedungdoro and jl. Tidar at the west part of jl. Embong Malang Surabaya.

Rujak is basically spicy salad soaked in peanut sauce/palm sugar sauce. And Cingur is basically cow mouth. so rujak cingur is : spicy salad with cow mouth soaked in peanut sauce.

Rujak is more like kind of salad rather than a soup, the word cingur mean mouth. In this case cow's mouth. The add some of it to the salad make it very unique dishes..some people loves it, others confused by it, some like me who think "whyy.." but overall this dishes is one of a kind..😅

Rujak usually filled with fruits, it's fruit salad with peanut sauce and this peanut sauce is different from the sauces on Sate or Gado-Gado. They'll have some sour taste (from asam jawa) and sweeter, but on this Rujak Cingur case, I don't really know bcs I haven't eaten it. For Gado-Gado and Pecel, they're basically vegetable salad with peanut sauce, may come with lontong/ketupat, tofu, tempe, bihun (glass noodles), etc. I hope you guys enjoy!

In east java, we have a shrimp paste or you can called petis (black paste) for base in food, like lontong balap, kupang lontong, rujak, tahu campur, tahu telor. Because we near beach..so we have a lot of sea product. And in east java, we have a lil bit salty food. Except rawon, rawon made from kluwek not from shrimp paste. In center of java the food is sweet. In west java the food is sour and more spicy

If you still stay at Surabaya, Try to visit Romokalisari adventure park, which you can enjoy playing jet ski, kano and many more. Try to visit Kebun raya mangrove at Gunung anyar too.. it's new at Surabaya Visit perahu kalimas too, near at Balai Pemuda ( near hotel mojopahit which you are staying too, just go straight along or you can ask the pedestrian " Wisata perahu kalimas ). But Wisata Perahu Kalimas Only Available at Night/evening, you can enjoy the night riding boat like in Venice city

Also visit Atlantis land, you can swim, riding a roller coaster, and see " Air mancur Menari " at Evening ( 5.30 pm ). Atlantis land located in Kenjeran Beach, you can see the sunset too.. It's beautiful too

Yes, Indonesia has many vegetarian choices. The salad is variety. Asinan Buah, Asinan Bogor, Keredok, Ketoprak, Gado2, Pecel, Urab, Lalapan... Cingur is the nose of the cow. Kelly pronounced is perfect: Rujak Cingur👍👍. Dad needs more practice 😂 not Rajuk Cigar😁😁

Nice video, 11:10 Its to funny when you prounance rujak cingur 😂, wow forest love kerupuk, did you know some mother in Java wont give their child kerupuk because they Will not want to eat anything else after they taste kerupuk and its go on til they are old, kerupuk is addicted as Indonesian is not felt completed rating rice and vegetable without kerupuk, feel like not kicking 😂

rujak cingur obviously not for the vegetarian wife. but the normal rujak, is fine for her. vegetable rujak, fruit rujak. but some seller use shrimp paste. but shrimp is fine for vegetarian I think. BUT again, rujak is not a meal and not for individual portion. it's more like a party snack. but indeed, can eat it alone. but often for party snack. but, for rujak cingur, it's more like a meal. not like regular vegetable rujak or fruit rujak edit: and the "cingur" I think the snot/nose part of cow. even though sounds disgusting, but I think that's a good way to not waste any part of a cow. but yeah.. even i, still think it's disgusting. rujak cingur is indeed, not for everyone. edit2: and the more you're to the east of jawa island, the more you find that the taste is more into the SWEET taste. and use shrimp paste and other local stuff. soo not for everyone. i don't like the sweet peanut sauce btw. i prefer the peanut sauce in the western jawa island. like in jakarta and other cities there.

When you said Cheek Ox Soup as Rujak Cingur, oh you gonna have a suprise..... Rujak is more like salad. I like the sweet spicy one in Rujak Buah (Fruit Rujak). Im sorry I do not like Rujak Cingur. It taste wierd in my taste bud. But different people different taste wise. You are a brave tasting st that you do not known.
