Great tips!!! Argentina is on my bucket list and now I feel like I’ll be more prepared when I go.

Most power adapters (“bricks”, like for a phone or laptop) are capable of converting the voltage. If it says “input: 100-240VAC” on the power adapter, it’s able to take the both domestic and international voltages within that range and only a plug converter to fit the outlet is needed. If it’s a straight plugin item like an alarm clock an additional power converter may needed in addition to the plug adapter. But this is becoming more and more rare. Of course, always check the device label before assuming. Thanks for the tips, thought I would share.

Visa pays the blue dollar rate. Mastercard doesn't. We're almost finished with my two-week holiday in Argentina: BA, Ushuaia, El Calafate, and back to BA. We were informed by our tour guide for the Recoleta Cemetary that Visa pays the blue dollar rate. We had to pay by card to enter the Recoleta Cemetary as they don't accept cash. I used my Visa card and discovered that I was only charged GBP 4.74 entrance fee to the Recoleta Cemetery. I then started to use my Visa card and discovered that I was getting an exchange rate of AR$340 to 1 US$. Which is not too different from the current blue rate of AR$380 to 1 US$. We found lots of vegan restaurants and most other restaurants have at least a vegetarian option. We did not starve during our Argentine holiday!

The SUBE shortage was due to a international shortage of chips in order to make new cards. Luckily now its back to normal.

All laptops have switching power supplies and cells too. You just need the plug changer.

This is no longer needed. Just use your credit card. Any foreign credit card holder will be charge in good rate, very close to the dollar blue rate
