Fellow dirtbag here.I was researching some travel stuff and your channel popped up. I used to kayak and oc1 the Ocoee and all around that area. I loved taking my Dagger Ocoee down the creeks in the smokies, or blasting through 5 falls. Daddys Creek, Obed, Clear Creek was my home away from home. I spent years trad climbing all over those places and North Carolina. I lived outside of Knoxville. The thing I miss the most from all that is being young enough to think I would never die! Hahaha! This is great realtime info. Talking while doing is a fantastic concept. Mucho Gusto, Hootyhoo.

That's a drag! Glad you had money to take the other flying-over option. In 1976, I went from Otavalo to Ipiales, entered Columbia and came back over into Ecuador the same day. In those days it was a little easier.

It is/was a temporary rule during the state of emergency. I encountered closed borders during the pandemic too.

Good stuff man, thanks for sharing. The wife’s family is from MANTA, visited with her last year. If you’ve never been it’s beautiful as well. Never had any issues as an American and the food/living costs are so affordable and a welcome relief from the NE USA!! Enjoy your trip and keep the vids coming!

Bienvenidos a Ecuador! Hope you can visit Cuenca. Tena has some great rafting, I recommend River People. The owner came to the jungles of Ecuador from Ireland when he was a kid. Slipping into Ecuador, is one thing, slipping out is quite another. Immigration don't play in EC.

@@jameskelly9243 there are outfitters that provide logistical support for gringo kayakers and also hostels for more independent boaters. Facebook has some groups as well. What level of kayaking are you interested in? I often suggest Southeastern kayaker should paddle the Cheoah at levels above 2,000 cfs to assure comfort.

I’ve been watching the same rules. I’m in Ecuador planning on flying to Bogota for knee surgery and then returning to Ecuador. Of course I’m worried that the land border rule will expand to air travel. I hope this experience doesn’t put you off Ecuador. It’s worth it once you get here and if you need help or want to kick it once you’re here let me know.

I seriously doubt they will extend it to air travel. Ecuador is already suffering from a loss of tourism revenue and won't risk more.

Did u had to pay the $30 or 66 dolars exit fee that u mentioned? I am also flying to Quito this week after staying in Colombia for 6months on a tourist permit (when i extended 3months ago i paid 125mil pesos)

Sounds good but in practice the performance sucks in most rural areas and even in Quito foreign cards are throttled back to the point many apps perform poorly. However if you only make phone calls like back in the 90s it would be fine. Data usage however it a different story and a local SIM will greatly outperform foreign providers.

Dude, you are misleading people. One of the bombs was planted by La Mayorista in Solanda, in southern Quito, an open market to the public, another was planted near a kindergarten in Cuenca. The bombings were not just aimed at politicians, officials, etc. Please, please, please people STOP trying to convince people that it is totally safe, or that it is totally dangerous here. Someone in my family works in Crisis Management and has close contacts within the U.S. Embassy. If you don't know what you're talking about, then don't talk...just to try to make money off of a U-tube channel. HONESTLY!

I see no sources cited in your rant. I got my sources from local news in Colombia and Quito. I have heard otherwise only from drama queens. Hearsay is not a source.
