My compliments for a very informative video! I did the said area in 2019 - and can testify how well you made the video. I flew to Buenos Aires, then by long distnce bus via Puerto Mndryn to El Clafate and onwards to Ushaia -but since it was low season (winter), I could not sail from Puerto Natales to Puerto Mont (Chlie westcoast) - The webside had not been updated, so I found out "the hard way". But nayway, my roundtrip turned out to be come "a memory for life"! ;-)

This is excellent content, in fact everything ive watched of yours on argentina and chile has been great! I was struggling to find much info on day hikes. Everything i was reading was basically saying to go on the multi day hikes or dont bother, so this has been extremely helpful. Just one quick question. What month were you in patagonia? looks like you got great weather!

Hi! This was by far the BEST video I’ve seen for this! I am planning a trip to BA next month for a month and getting overwhelmed with all the things to do! I am planning to go to Patagonia for a week so I think your 7 day itinerary is perfect. I do have a question about the 4 day one. Does that one include Fitz Roy as well? And can you possibly make a video showing us what to pack?
@SheRunTheWorld
@SheRunTheWorld 10 ай бұрын
Aw thanks so much! I’m glad you found it helpful!! Yes- the 4 days is just the Argentinian side so it includes El Chalten (which is where Fitz Roy is) and El Calafate I’m actually living in London now and don’t have access to any of the hiking equipment or clothes I brought to Patagonia in order to make the video :( I moved here spontaneously so I don’t have much with me. But I’m happy to answer any specific questions you have on IG @sheruntheworld_ ☺️

Hey, Brittany! Your Patagonia series is really helpful! I am planning on being in El Calafate on a solo trip in July to see El Chalten and mini trek Perito Moreno. I do have a few questions: a) Is it cheaper to book activities when I arrive in El Calafate or to book in advance? b) is it possible to do the Fitz Roy hike in July? Thank you so graciously for your videos and cannot wait to see the best of Patagonia with my own eyes!
@SheRunTheWorld

Hey Katrina, Aw thank you so much that really means a lot to me! 1) you should definitely book when you get there, it’ll be cheaper 2) as far as I know it doesn’t close at any point during the year, so you should be able to do it in July! but you should be prepared for really cold weather and possible snow! You’re so welcome- I’m excited for you to see it, it’s absolutely incredible :)

Hi Brittany , great videos! Thank you for all your information. We are a group of 3 planning to go there at the end of DEC 2023, wondering did you have to go back and forth for the hours journey everyday from el calafate / el chalten to each tourist attraction spot? thank you

Great video! I’m planning on heading down to Argentina from the States for ~10 days next spring. I suppose it’s a matter of personal preference, but how long would you recommend staying in Buenos Aires, or would you recommend just stopping over and going straight to Patagonia to optimize the time?
@SheRunTheWorld

Thank you! That’ll be an amazing trip! Normally I’d say skip the city, and go straight for nature but Buenos Aires is actually super cool. With your time limit I’d say spend a solid 2 days there (I have a 3 day itinerary with a Google map on my channel) and then head over to Patagonia (I have another Patagonia video of everything you need to know before you go)

Thanks So much Brittany ! This is the most useful video I ever saw in KZfaq on Patagonia travel. Can I ask you a dumb question, on the blue rate exchange, can I just bring USD cash to any exchange shops in Buenos Aires or at BA Airport or Western Union (without any Transfer) in BA to enjoy the same rate?
@SheRunTheWorld
@SheRunTheWorld 10 ай бұрын
You’re so welcome! I’m glad you found it helpful! It’s not dumb at all- you still get a great rate if you exchange USD cash at an exchange rate. A western union transfer is still slightly better, but it’s not a big enough difference to matter too much in my opinion. I will say though, I went in November 2022 so almost a year ago. I’ve had people comment recently that the blue rate now works with debit/credit cards for foreigners. So I’d recommend still bringing USD cash to exchange as your backup, but try making a small purchase on your debit/credit card when you arrive in BA and see if it’s the actual exchange rate or blue dollar. If it is, great! If not, exchange your cash☺️ (Also this is just based on my experience last year & people’s recent comments- I’m not too well versed in Argentinian politics/policies, so it may have changed in the year since I’ve been there & I don’t want to give you incorrect info if it has changed!!)

Very insightful video! Quick question: if you wanna get in the bus from the airport in El Calafate to go straight to the Perito Moreno Glacier, do you have to book online the bus trip? and do you have to book online the entrance to the perito moreno park? or are there tour companies in the airport? Thanks!
@SheRunTheWorld
@SheRunTheWorld Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I do remember seeing 1-2 stalls with glacier departures at 9am, so I’m sure you could book it directly there if you got the earliest flight in. But if you want to be safe and make sure it doesn’t fill up, maybe I’d book online just for this 1 excursion to guarantee everything. No matter which option you can’t pay the entrance fee online, the bus will pull over and everyone will have to pay the entrance fee when you arrive.

Very awesome video! Few equations if you don’t mind - how did you get around? It sounds like you took a bus everywhere. Are buses easy? Flexible? Do you need to book these in advance? Do you think a Car rental would be better? - for all the hikes you mentioned. Did you need to book tickets in advance to get in the park / hike? Or is it just pay once you get there and walk right in? I’m from Canada and some of popular parks / hikes have like limits in how many people can visit per day so you need to book in advances etc. so I was wondering if it might be the same here. - did you do the hikes / glacier on your own or with a tour? Do you have to use tours? Or can we do it ourselves.
@SheRunTheWorld
@SheRunTheWorld Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Buses are very easy, flexible and you don’t need to book in advance. I prefer buses over car rental because it’s a lot cheaper, but up to you! You don’t need to pay anything for the hikes or book in advance there’s no limit or fees for anything. Hikes: on my own, don’t need a guide! Glacier: there is no public bus, so you either take a tour bus to get there and then they drop you off and let you explore on your own. Or you rent a car! Up to you.

Thanks Brittany, this is such a helpful video! Quick question, would it be cheaper to land up and book stays / hostels in person, paying in cash, coz of the blue dollar? As compared to booking online and paying by credit card? I guess that way I would run the risk of not finding places to stay?
@SheRunTheWorld
@SheRunTheWorld 10 ай бұрын
Thank you I’m glad you found it helpful!! What I would do is find the hotel online and message them if you can book with cash when you arrive. That way it’s still reserved in advance but you get to take advantage of the blue dollar! That’s what we did in El Chalten!!

Hey Brittany, your videos are amazing.. they so are full of great tips. We are looking to go to Patagonia in May next year.. would the national parks be opened for the glacier and hiking in Fitz Roy mountains.. We would also like to do a day trip to Ushuaia? Is that possible? Should we fly from Buenos Aires or Santiago?? We are looking to add Patagonia at the end of either one of these two cities.. Thank you so much for your very informative videos❤🙏🙏🙏
@SheRunTheWorld
@SheRunTheWorld 9 ай бұрын
Aw thank you so much, I’m so glad you’ve found them helpful!! So May does start the winter season (May-Sep) so I believe it’s still open to hike Fitz Roy as long as weather permits and there’s not too much snow. I believe during the winter you have to register with the Park Center when you arrive, just so they’re aware of whose hiking during the colder conditions. If you’re doing the Argentinian side (Calafate & Chalten) I’d fly from Buenos Aires, or if you’re doing the Chilean side (Torres Del Paine) I’d fly from Santiago. Personally I think flying from BA and doing the Argentinian side is a lot easier and more accessible, so that’s what I did and would recommend I did see tours advertising for Ushuaia day trips so I do believe it’s possible - it’s just very expensive and very long. As you’d have to take a round trip flight in the same day. I heard Ushuaia is incredible so you might want more time there then just 1 day!! (If you have it lol) I’m happy to answer any other questions you have, feel free to message me on IG @ sheruntheworld_ Thanks so much for watching & enjoying my videos ♥️

When you pull out money from an ATM or use a card to purchase things, you’re paying the official exchange rate which is super expensive. If you get cash via western Union you get the blue dollar exchange rate, so you get about 2x more money this way.
