Stay tuned to the very end for my "Top tips when travelling with a 16 month old" #elannapecherle #travellingwithatoddler #traveltips
*REMEMBER*! You don’t need to pay for a child if they’re under 2. My parents were so kind to book this flight for us and I would never expect them to pay full price for another seat when it isn’t needed.
If we were to have another seat it STILL doesn’t guarantee a smooth flight. Babies and kids are unpredictable. Be patient.

Always always always be prepared for a 24 hour period when it comes to clothes, diapers, and food for a baby, in case of flight delays or cancelations. Learned that the hard way. 🥺

I flew with my little guy for the first time in May and I was so stressed and frazzled. I was worried everyone was going to hate me. When we landed an older came up to me at baggage claim and told me how great my baby did on the flight and that I did a great job as well. I could have cried. Ps love the no floor trick! Definitely putting that in my pocket for a rainy day. Welcome back to Canada!

I fly to Estonia from Michigan often with our little one and my main advice to people is always SNACKS! I also like to always buy cheap toys from the dollar store and then give them to her once on the airplane so its something completely new and also if she looses it, it wouldn't be sad because its from the dollar store lol.

I remember flying from Vancouver to London and back by myself with three small children (my youngest was 3). Honestly, Gravol was my best friend as the flight was closer to 12 hours in those days. Not too proud of this, but it was my doctor’s recommendation and I took it! xox

I flew by myself with my two girls once. They were 1 & 3.. oh my goodness! I was sooo nervous!! But I think they “felt” how on edge I was, and they were brilliant! Phew 😅 but every time I’ve flown with the girls and my hubby, one of them has had a meltdown!

My goodness I totally understand how you feel! My daughter is just under two as well and she finds it difficult to sleep while traveling sometimes. She'll just end up being cranky and restless because she finds it hard to get comfortable to sleep.

Hi Elanna! Just read the comments on this video and am shocked. I think you did a great job prepping and planning - had snacks, activities, etc. and Olive is really lucky that she gets to come to Canada and see your fam! I don't really see any "blame" on that guy who booked the middle seat, LOL! Anyway, hope you have a great trip, enjoy the HOT summer in Toronto, and good luck travelling back home! It's never easy with kids (I've traveled with nieces and nephews and it's not an easy job to keep them happy and entertained and help them sleep). Love your videos! Your family is so cute :D

lol thanks girl! We hardly blamed the guy too. He was lovely! It just made sense for him to move as the seat offered was actually with HIS family. Wouldn't make sense for either one of us to move lol. BUT it's real life. MOST if not all people who don't need to buy an extra seat wouldn't. I'm just an easy target because I filmed it. Would love to see their videos so I can take notes....

Hey Elanna! These tips are so helpful. I happen to know for the baby and kids meals, it doesn't cost extra on overseas flights! It just has to be requested in advance since it's considered a special meal. Sometimes the airline provides colouring/activity books too :)

Olive is no longer a baby, she is a toddler. A tall order to expect her to be comfortable for seven hours without a seat I think. Glad you managed but you could have made it easier for yourselves. Enjoy your time in Canada.
@elannapecherle
@elannapecherle 4 жыл бұрын
Stu cumins we didn’t book these flights, our parents did. Also, you don’t have to book a seat until there two. Then you pay full price. It is VERY expensive to fly from Ireland to Toronto so when we can save, we will. Thanks for your concern.
@littlebluebird10
@littlebluebird10 4 жыл бұрын
Olive is still under the age of two though - airlines have that policy for a reason. I think you'll find most with children below that age don't pay for a seat. It's also just not financially ideal for most. So whilst you might believe that's the best option and that's what you would have done, they seem to have managed just fine doing what they wanted to do/are encouraged to do by the airlines with children that age.

Question: Why did you not just book an extra seat? Even though it's more money, wouldn't that have made your life a little easier?

@elannapecherle 4 жыл бұрын
My parents booked these flights. I would never ask them to spend more money for an extra seat when you don't NEED to until they're two. Also, an extra seat doesn't guarantee a smoother flight. Babies/toddlers are unpredictable. xo

sorry I’m a bit confused. why did you ask the man to move seats? why didn’t one of you move to the spare seat so your baby could rest and not disturb everyone on the flight? a bit rude of you to expect someone else to move. it doesn’t make any sense
@bellapearson5577
@bellapearson5577 4 жыл бұрын
Vasile Ana hi yes I have 3 kids. I would never expect someone to move for us. everyone pays for their seats so I’m not entitled to take someone else’s. they expected this person to move to a spare seat on the plane but they wouldn’t move themselves. it is poor planning. they made their poor daughter suffer for 7 hours because they didn’t want to move to a spare seat. people like this make travelling so much harder for the rest of us. you have to think about the people around you. the world has become so self absorbed
@elannapecherle
@elannapecherle 4 жыл бұрын
@@bellapearson5577 lol she didn't suffer. Again, I would prefer to travel with and BESIDE my husband. The guy had family where he was offered another seat. Made more sense but it all worked out in the end. Also, an extra seat still doesn't guarantee a smoother flight. Obviously you know this because you fly all the time with your kids, right? x

I couldn’t agree more. You think other people will move to accommodate you, just like you think other people will tolerate hours trapped in a tube with your noisy toddler etc etc. Really incredible entitlement, but not surprising. I’ve lost count of the flights I’ve taken with screaming babies and parents who think it’s all about them. I will say though I would have moved as far as possible away from your wriggling shrieking kid and let you have the seat. Not because I think you have a right to ask - you don’t - but for my own sanity.
@Bee-ly4gx
@Bee-ly4gx 9 ай бұрын
I read these comments before hearing what she said. She certainly comes across as entitled and aggressive both verbally and in her written replies to any questioning. I think she probably comes across in a different way to how she thinks and feels . It’s very hard travelling with a toddler and as annoying as it might be to others the toddler doesn’t know they are causing upset. They are learning and are as entitled to fly as anyone else. That said if you book the seats the way she did then you have to accept without question that someone else can sit there.
