X-rays don't affect them to my knowledge

You can always ask them to hand inspect the pouch it in front of you if you’re worried about xrays.

Have you ever had TSA demand that you power on the NVGs (like any other electronics) to prove they're not a bomb?

I haven't. I have had military vets recognize that they are NVGs.

How crazy would it be to throw a helmet (sans NVG) into the same Pelican 1615 Air or whatever with handgun/holster/etc.? I've never had an FAA firearms-declared bag go missing in >200 flights (sometimes they bring it by hand to me/require ID to release, depending on the airport, but never actually missing). I realized my helmet + light + etc. are actually more expensive than handgun, but it doesn't seem particularly more tempting as a target of theft.

To me it's about the actual NVGs. I have huge gouges, dents and scratches on luggage that TSA handles. If I bring my helmet on carry on I can save weight on my checked bag and protect my NVGs further.

What pouch would you recommend to carry a pvs 14 on your person while in full kit? Thanks for the great content! Will be purchasing the NERD

I don't keep night vision in my kit. It's either on my helmet or in my pack. On your person is a great way to damage them.

What if I have Gen 3+ nods in Canada, and I want to come to the U.S. to take a course? Assuming this is a class that accepts Canadians, would I be hindered from traveling with nods?

Most classes rent nv gear, will be less of a hastle. It can happen that travelling to US is legal with it, but you don't get it legally out of there anymore

I would definitely check with your Canadian and the state department laws here. I also agree to not go through the hassle if it is too much of a pain and just rent the night vision
