Those two young lads should have been allowed to play with the club the same as any other lads , however if travellers want to be treated like everybody else they should behave like everybody else and by that I mean if they are working or sell items they should pay income tax and not be allowed to have a business and also claim social welfare.

Let the kids in to play FFS. It might help those two lads from going down the wrong road in life. Sport is very good for kids to keep them focused and burn off excess energy.

Thank you for another interesting and enjoyable video. Some years ago the football club in Nass had a number of people camping on their grounds in caravans, when eventually they were expelled it cost 90,000 euro to clean up their mess.

Disgraceful behaviour to two young kids - horrendous actions. And they jolly should have brought this action - not to mention, you treat kids like this, then you can't complain when they feel discriminated against WHEN THEY ARE BEING! It's a gross world when people treat others like that - and if he'd had a bad day, then he could have gone the next day and apologised and let them in. Surely the club should also have been made to let the kids come and play in the team.

They have been treated badly for hundreds of years And it’s no better. It would only happen in Ireland that every race under the sun is welcome but our own travelling people

In this day and age, you would think people have moved on and have a bit of manners. Still stuck in the 1950's in some parts of the country. Shameful.

@@rocon86 It wasnt the 1950's its the last 15 years when the club has been vandalised. If certain people want to play football they are welcome. Let them do their own fundraising, buy insurance, nets, jerseys and provide trainers and coaches see when their stuff gets robbed and vandalised.

Why didn't the club just allow the kids to take place in a week's trial? If they are good enough, let them in. Surely, the matter just come down to ability. Otherwise, you could have kids being picked just because there are travellers

If that's the rule for ALL the kids - then fine - but if it's not then it continues to be discrimination because they were travellers - it's not an "otherwise" it's a "totally was"!

@rsh793 to join any organization you need to register, so maybe the football club needs to inform all of their staff on the terms and conditions of joining the club & the standards that must be met. After all, when you register, it is a contract. like any store, they would have the right to refuse a service if the terms & conditions required are not met.

@@kelly2180 that's not really the point is it - the point is that these two wee lads were clearly discriminated against - however you want to wrap it up and whatever "rules" you want to introduce - they have to be exactly the same for everyone. Imagine if they had been a couple of fantastic football players but had been disabled - would you be making the same mental gymnastics - or just accepting that this is a clear case of discrimination which goes against the Iaw in Ireland that covers Travellers.

The amount of muppets in the comment section, none of you know the context of what had happened that club in the last 10-15 years. Just because the WRC ruled it was unfair doesn’t mean that he hadn’t just cause to refuse entry. They have been absolutely terrorised for years

I'd say a payment to the boys would help to foster good relations with the club (from the point of view of the boys and their parents anyway). Sad, especially when you remember the tragic fire in Glenamuck that surely took some of their relations RIP.

"it was at the very minor end of discrimination", I would argue that if the adjudicator is sympathetic toward this statement then the adjudicator has erred in law. You cannot quantify discrimination, you cannot say that they only discriminated a little bit as opposed to a big bit. It's like saying we will not allow the black man entry to the club because he is tanned brown instead of being almost black. Discrimination is discrimination, end of story. It is like saying that you are only a little bit pregnant. Therefore, you will not have to endure the responsibility of bearing a child. Somethings cannot be quantified and discrimination is one of those things.

They should have let them join in and play. Question: Would you want your daughter to marry a lad from the travelling community? - if the answer is no you are discriminating, if the answer is yes you are one in a million.
