After 9 months of waiting Vkusna | Tochka finally released the Russian Big Mac, known as the Big Hit, a play on the original Big Mac made famous by McDonald's for so many years. How does it taste, together we're going to find out.

I remember when the first Mc Donalds opened in Moscow. Pictures of long lines of people, patiently waiting for their first taste of 'fast food'. It was said to be the beginning of a new era, of better times. And now they're all gone.

@@andreasmartin7942 Losing a bunch of fast-food franchises is the "better times". They tend to be factory foods which implies cost is the primary factor in their delivery. Remember, you are what you eat and western food is now a lab rat.

@@andreasmartin7942 There is just one small problem. The period '91-'99, when Russia was under foreign rule, which is called in the West "New Era of Freedom and Democracy", in Russia is called "The Cursed Decade". So, no, nobody regrets this "new era".

I'm absolutely amazed at the size of that place and it's so clean. It's bigger than a train station! The cost of your meal would be $4.98, in Canada that combo would cost more like $15.00 and up. The food choices are much more healthy than what we get here but that burger sure looks like a Big Mac. Whoever thought up that logo should be given a bonus. Mickey D's should take note of the improvements the new owners have made. And the book, what a wonderful way to entertain kids instead of letting them run riot in the restaurant.

Thanks Russell. I have been watching to get a sense of how the Russians are coping with the things. It is really lovely to see how sane and normal things are. Then don't move to Florida. Gov. Ron hates books that are not on an approved State government list. A teacher can get a felony for even letting the books they don't like sit on a classroom shelf.

It really is a massive place inside. I think it was one of the busiest locations in the world at one point. I am sure it's the busiest in Russia under the new name as well.

I just learned that one Russian Ruble equals .012 U.S. dollar. A little over a penny. The Big Hit basically costs about $2.25 USD. That’s mind blowing. And the ordering system looks so modern and efficient. That burger back home here in the U.S. would be about $6.00 US.

It's mainly due to salaries being small here. In big cities people with nice jobs like managers get 1000$+, but hard labor workers or maintenance get only around 500, even less for small towns.

I tried learning it for about a week but back then I couldn't focus on things very well. But I learned a bit about the food and the culture and a bit about their history. It has always been the one place I have wanted to visit.

You've really got it right. In Russia, everything is clean. Not only in this cafe. To see this, it is enough to watch several channels. One of which, for example, is a Window to Moscow, where a guy just walks around and shows different places in Moscow without words and without music. All the comments of foreigners are completely amazing and enthusiastic. But there are still a huge number of interesting places in Russia with a rich history, culture and architecture. Clean and beautiful. St. Petersburg, Yaroslavl, Astrakhan, Sochi, Kazan, Baikal, Caucasus, Crimea, Yalta, Sevastopol, Suzdal, Tver, Volgograd (Stalingrad), etc., etc. Welcome, come. We are always glad to have friends and just good people!

Thank you, Russell, for your wonderful review of "Вкусно и Точка" on Pushkin Square and the new-old burger. This restaurant is really historic, I managed to visit it on January 28, 1990 by special invitation 2 days before the official opening. The appetizing smell inside and the taste of the Big Mac just amazed me then.

I'm an American and I think that "McDonald" looks better than 99.9% of the McDonald in the US. That "Hit" aka Big Mac also has better looking buns and patties than the crap we get here as well. I just love the fact that Russia is doing well, there's hope for the rest of the world yet. I'm not angry that you get better burgers than us here in the States. What I'm absolutely pissed at is that not one Western media have somebody there to report the realities to us tax payers back here to show that our economic sanctions don't work, period. We laugh at how regular Chinese citizens are so ignorant of the rest of the world and our government is dumbing down our people with their propaganda and news suppression.

It should be borne in mind that there is a wide selection of purely Russian fast food restaurants like Kroshka-Kartoshka and Teremok which way better than Vkusno i Tochka. What's more, I've always preferred KFC to McDonalds and it's still under its original brand in Moscow.

Often it can be better or even attract new client's who prefer the new taste. That store is massive, but Moscow is a big city, bigger than Australian cities so you need that size. Great posts

Рассел привет я сегодня был во Вкусно и точка и тоже решил попробовать Биг Хит и вот что я заметил, сыр теперь кладут не снизу как раньше а сверху, а огурцы теперь кладут не сверху как раньше а снизу, раньше я разделял и ел верхнюю часть а потом нижнюю, так как нижняя была вкуснее и сочнее из за сыра, а теперь наоборот и теперь лучше есть все целиком

I think sometimes we all want some salty greasy junk food, nothing's wrong with having a burger once in a while. If you don't eat them daily, most likely nothing bad will happen to you and your health 😄

Some people eat it their whole lives, some even refuse to eat anything else and live longer than nuts who strictly stick to a ridiculously "healthy" diet. I personally wouldn't touch a burger from McD. Never. But I'd happily eat this one because it's Russian.

@@RayElberg Tbh, outside of US fast food isn't nearly as unhealthy. If you look up illegal food products / additives in most of the world, a lot of those are perfectly legal in US.

Funny thing, that they left with a hope to be back. According to the agreement McDonald's has the first-priority buyout rights for the network "Vkusno i Tochka" and return to Russia within 15 years. But I doubt they will be able.

I get the feeling that the name on this burger is a message to McD. Sort of like the new furniturestores, that a company from Belarus opened in previous IKEA stores, is called Swed Home. Kind of like this humoristic twist. By the way, the menu you bought Russell, costs 735 Rubles in Sweden (McD).

Maybe someone commented this but here we go. I taste exactly like a Big Mac. Only difference I saw was the sauce was yellowish, I remember it to be more white/tangerine. And the sesame seed on the bun are black and white.

Great video Russell, Russia is now on my holiday destination list. I can't believe just how affordable everything is, from food to rental property, it's like the prices are stuck in the seventies. I think the Fast food label is a complete misnomer, the only thing unhealthy about it is its availability and cheapness. Food manufacturers and suppliers want you to spend your money in their stores, not in fast food joints. What is so unhealthy about a bun, a meat pattie, pickles, cheese and sauce. It's the same claptrap with KFC and fried food scaremongering that health authorities indulge in. Fast food is good food and saves lives...

Visiting Russia is a great idea! And getting to know the real Russia through a couple more independent channels where the truth is shown will help to strengthen this idea. One of which, for example, is "Window to Moscow", where a guy just walks around and shows different places in Moscow without words and without music. All the comments of foreigners are absolutely amazing and full of enthusiasm. But Russia still has a huge number of interesting places with a rich history, culture and architecture. Clean and beautiful. Saint Petersburg, Yaroslavl, Astrakhan, Sochi, Kazan, Baikal, Caucasus, Crimea, Yalta, Sevastopol, Suzdal, Tver, Volgograd (Stalingrad), etc. etc. Welcome, come. We are always glad to see friends and just good people!

American Mcdonalds are so filled with many things for kids I think they are directed towards kids more than anything. Here in Russia In Siberia I have not seen a kid playing center next to any restaurant. Im originally from Southern California I moved to Russia 🇺🇸❤🇷🇺
