The seemingly limitless "Heartbreak Climb Uphill" is almost at an end, as upon departing my mooring at Thurlwood, I set myself the goal of tackling 8 locks - leaving just 6 to complete before Kidsgrove and Harecastle Tunnel.
The commitment to go 'that extra mile', doesn't just involve travelling set distances along the Trent & Mersey however, as I briefly discuss my intense weekly work schedule, as well as the reasons for my wishing to reach Kidsgrove.
On the way I stop off for coffee at Rode Heath and later, I attempt something never before seen (on the canals or elsewhere) - involving a lock and a pork pie . . .

Went back in time to rewatch Travels by Narrowboat: "Buying a Narrowboat" (Video #2) and "Narrowboat Launch Day" (Video #4). Listened again to your expressive reflection during your very first mooring of Aslan. My goodness, the narrowboat path you have traveled; your new experiences and discoveries over the years that you have kindly shared with all of us. Look at you and Aslan now. Really enjoy the blogs Kevin great work sir. If you are travelling the length of the Trent Mersey then a stop off at Alrewas is a must, the Coates butchers there do the very best pork pies I’ve ever had. Take your time it’s worth the wait for these and thank you

Kevin, as usual, an excellent outing. Gorgeous county. I'll echo other posts here by saying that as much as I thoroughly enjoy your journey, you should also enjoy them. If you're not enjoying the journey, why bother going through the hassle. Please take time for yourself, we'll survive.

Came down those locks in March. They’re a dream for the solo boater with steps and landing stages at the bottom. Great vlogs Kev. The Royalty of canal youtubers 🤣xx

What a lovely canal. Terrific framing to get great pics, avoiding the way other people use the scene, don’t know enough about editing to comment but it is seamless, loved it. Nice trip.
