@MountainRain you'd need very tight fitting gloves then, these sweets are extremely malleable so any gloves that are not literally sticking to the skin + there cannot be the small little patterns on the gloves (if you loom at certain gloves they will have very slight small circles ingrained into the rubber) will cause unsightly wrinkles among the smooth surface of the sweets. Not to mention, a good business can uphold the consumers trust, if they feel like they can trust those hands without fear, and no recorded instances have occured before, i think it should be ok Japan being clean is not exactly a "myth" ofc no where is 10000% spotless, but japan as a whole is certainly one of the cleanest countries in the world with dignified, strict standards and social rules around those types of things Another thing is that the gloves will either 1. Need to be constantly changed (as certain flavours would stick to the glove and carry over to the other sweets) and that would increase the price of the sweets to compensate for the constant glove buying, especially the tight fitting gloves that are required are extremely tedious to put on or take off. Added on top of that, if one would say "why cant they just wear it all the time then? And just wash the gloves to avoid the transfer/damaging of flavour?" Well the issue here is bacteria/germs are everywhere, if the gloves (especially after handling the sticky sugar) so much as brushes against another surface (even the tap) germs/bacteria instantaneously spread to the gloves, heck even in the box germs and bacteria may spread to the gloves. The gloves dont sterilise itself, they are simple a cover for ones hands, a pair of clean hands is the same as a pair of clean gloves. Dirty gloves are like dirty hands.

Well they are mostly made out of Beans or Rice. Some are nut or fruit based. Most of Japanese sweets are made with a low amount of sugar. So if you expect some super sweet taste you would be disappointing for sure. The taste is mild and you would not find a very strong flavor. The textures are mostly soft and a little grainy. Some have a jelly texture but way softer than a jelly bean and also way less sweet. And finally they also have the kinds that are like little cakes. I enjoy these sweets a lot, on the other hand my mom dislikes them and says they "taste like nothing". So I guess you have to try them to figure out if you enjoy it or not. But at least now you have a vague idea of what to expect.

honestly you might be right, it is not that very sweet, and it is just food colouring, usually it has nothing to do with taste (they all tastes the same), except red bean paste.

more like matcha was made to enhance the flavour of the sweets. Literally all the sweets are made out of the same things. rice, red bean paste, roots, or green tea paste. The tea is more like something to dilute your palate from too much sweetness (but these really aren't that sweet).
