Australian here 👋 Baseball down here isn’t a ‘hotbed’ yet, but it’s definitely moving in the right direction. The baseball community here isn’t huge, but like Travis, they’re absolutely nuts for it. The pro league here is increasing very rapidly in popularity and attendance, and starting to get a decent financial backing, the national team has been performing well over the past 5 years or so, and most importantly we’re a sports insane country who celebrates hard for Aussies who do well overseas. If the Guardians become ‘Australia’s team’ it’ll be great for the Guardians 🙌

I live in Australia; baseball is not big here at all. There is a small subculture of fans and there is a league (I think Manny Ramirez played or coached in Sydney for a while a few years ago!) but wow is this a big opportunity to make baseball bigger here. I hope the mlb can bring the Guards to Sydney similar to what they did in Seoul and London at some point. (They did it in 2014 but of course CLE wasn’t on that invite)

100% I'd love to see a split series with the Twins given that Baseball Australia's ED played for the Twins for one year. Could be a great series to do early in the year (as opposed to mid-season with London). Downside is Twins would be in Florida in Spring. But it'd at least guarantee warmer weather game in March in Sydney versus Minnesota or Cleveland! I think there's so much potential for marketing given the season is not conflicting with cricket season, could have some fun crossover opportunities if marketers put their heads together. I'm still shocked years later NRL hasn't found a better way to market in the US during early COVID days, but Bazzana should create a lot of opportunities I hope Cleveland and MLB actively and creatively explore. A few folks came to Sydney during early COVID to coach and play, including Rachel Balkovec, Miami's newly hired director of player development.

@@themadlibs slight issue is Sydney gets a lot of rain in March. There was a rain delay in game 1 of the series when LA and ARI player about 10 years ago. Maybe Melbourne could be a candidate. Melbourne is much drier than Sydney.

Excellent job guys. Good insights. I think we all agree Bazzana will start at LC. But what about the other guys? Doughty is a prep guy, so maybe he sees low A. But could a college guy like Cozart start at Lake County?

Also, I’m tired of people complaining about getting a MI when we still have so many middle infield prospects. The “glut” of MI prospects is a myth. Arias is toast. Rocchio needs to prove the bat can play. Freeman will never be an everyday MI in MLB. Martinez is now full embracing the OF. None of the current MLB level MIs are looking like long term answers. After those guys, what are we looking at? Welbyn Francisca and Kahlil Watson? Those guys are years away.

I know I shouldn’t be, but I’m still very concerned about Bazzana’s position. I really do not believe that Gimmy will leave 2B, and I’m not convinced Bazzana can be a CF, so now we are looking at RF/LF/DH. If that’s the case, I don’t know that the bat is worth nearly the same value at a low-priority defensive position.

Chase Utley or Kyle Tucker with a grade less power. He can also take over at 2b if they move AG over a lot of ways to make it work
